AMA National C'ship Hillclimb Series: Round2 · Williamses win White Rose He By Maxine Casey YORK, PA , J UNE 5 00 00 O"l . Greg and Wade Williams rode their STP Special Hondas to victories in the 540cc and 800cc classes, respectively, at the second ro u nd of Class A h ill climb ing at York. Gr eg topped the 340-foo t hill in 6.67 seconds aboa rd the 540cc Special wh ile bro th er Wade rode th e 800cc version over in 6.08 seconds. They both did it o n the first ride. Tim Frailer managed a second, pl ace finish in the 540cc class with th e head gas ket blown on his BSA. His tim e was 6.78 seconds. Doug Kreeger, on a Triumph, finished thi rd with a time of 6,87 seconds . H onda -mo unted Paul Pinsonna ult edged Triu mph rider Doug Klont by .03 seconds to take four th. J eff Yoder topped the hill in 6. 13 seconds for second p lace in the 800cc class. BSA veteran Ear l Bowlby was th ird w ith a 6.18 second rid e. T rium ph -m ount ed David Newsome finished fourth wi th 6.24 seconds. Tom Reiser placed fifth in 6.38 seco nds. It was a bad da y for Harry Schriber, who had just bought Doyle DisBenne tt's motor a nd managed a sixthp lace finish on his very first ride in the800ccclass. Bu t he blew the motor a t 160 feet on his second attempt. Charl ie Casey's motor made bad ' noises as he cleared the last breaker bu t he coas ted through th e ligh ts for a n eighth-place finish. . . Randy Gabriel finished seventh, sayi ng he just cou ldn't fig ure o ut how to make his H arley go faster o n the Wh ite Rose hill. Hachmeister BYRO N, IL, MAY 29 After two seven-lap rnotos of wheelto-wheel action, Brad Nordlof took th e win in the Senior Men's class over rival Tim Klou ser at Motosports Park. , Nordlof and his Tuf Racing Kawasaki got th e holeshot in the first moto and turned back Klouser several tim es in th e first four laps. Nordlof took a wide line in the back woods sweeper and Klo user dove inside to ta ke the lead . At (he flag, Klo user had stretched a comfortable lead over Nordl of.
