MORRIS, PA, MAY 28 Yamaha-support pilot Damon Bradshaw and Michigan mini hotshoe Brian Swink each scored a pair of overall wins at the Team Green Spring Nationals at .H igh P oint Raceway. The even t, held on the.Saturday' before the . ' 125/250 cc N anona1 at t h e .f a. . cility, was attended by 910 nd- 18 ers, a record amateur crowd for the annual race. Bradshaw hammered both the 125 and 250cc A classes aboard his MotoX Fox/Scott USA /Barr 's Comp.prepped Yamahas, racking up four consecutive moto wins. The 15-yearold North Carolina racer found his ~a~~ competiti?n. in the 250c~ A divi sion tt? be Michigan. H onda pilot J eff Beckmgton. Beckington, wh o also scored a runner-up finish in th e first 125cc A di vision, led the second moto until just before the white flag when Bradshaw moved by via an inside-ou t pass around one of th e course's many off-cambered turns. Ohio 's Joseph Maurer, T eam Green backed Bobb y Mann, and Massachusetts' Keith Johnson rounded out the , top five. With nearly 50 riders regi stered in th e 125cc A ranks th e class was spl it into two groups, with Brad shaw taking th e win in di vision two followin g Honda-m ounted Sean Du kes' di vision one win . Dukes tied Beckington in points, and th e North Carolina rider 's 2-1 was th e better score o n a tie-breaker. Maurer , H onda-mounted David Beckington, an d Fl orida' s Mann went 3-4-5. Brad shaw was foll owed across the checkered flag by West Virginia 's Stev ie Childress a n d Virgin i a Yama ha ace Kevin Walker. Ohio 's Ma rc u s Se llar ds a nd Michigan Kawasak i pilot J ay Wentzel were next. ' In the Open A class So ut h Carol-ina 's Rob bi e Taylor nail ed down th e win with a perfec t I-I score, The Yamaha rider was trailed in both m otos by Kawasaki-mounted Sam Buchalter. Local rider Jim Queen ra n th ird aboard his Honda with Pennsylvania 's Mik e Grafton and Kawasaki rider Cra ig Martin filling in the next two spots. Swink took the 85cc (14-15) class win with a 3-1 score. Swink led the first rnoto br iefly before tumbling in th e back hill section, leaving Maryland's Bill y Schlag alone in the lead. Barr' s C omp.-back ed Hayden Ri chards split the differen ce between Sch lag and a recovered Swink at the finish. In moto two it was th e Gear backed Swink all th e way, beating Ri ch ards and a ch argi ng Schlag across th e flag. Swink's 3-1 was th e best of a three-w ay ti e, beating R ich ards' 2-2 and Sch lag's 1-3. New York 's Sco tt Sheak and Ohio' s Mike H owell ro unded out the first five. Swi nk's second win came in th e hotl y-contested Schoolboy cla ss, in which th e defending 85cc National Champion competed-aboard a modifi ed big-wheel Kaw asaki KX80. Swink grabbed both wins in the class, th ough South Carolina's Hank Moree and David Beckington were in the chase throughout the races. Moree's 3-2 was good for second overall ,with Beckington going 2-4 for third. Eric McClear and Kawasaki-mounted Jeremy Buehl rode in the next two spots. • With two classes being the limit each rider could enter, Swink was out of the Super Minirunning. That left Richards and Schlag to go at it again, .and after two clo se heats it was Ri chards getting th e bet ter of his Kawasak i co un terpart. His 2-1 beat Schlag's 1-2 in th e final tall y with Yamaha-mounted Patrick Slate running third with a 5-3 score, Next in line were Kaw asaki rider Jason Fowl er and Ron Cancilla. . North Carolina's Slat e had pi cked up an 85cc (12-13) clas s first earlier in th e day, beating T eam Green 's Davey Yezek with ano ther 2-1 versus 1-2 ti e-breaker tall y. H ondamounted Justi n Jarrett fin ished in third wh ile Ohio's J oe Woodfork and J ason Williams too k hom e the top five trophies as well. The younger Bradshaw brother, lac, showed that speed runs in th e family by winning the 85cc (7-11) class. ' H is perfect two-mote score bested ru nner-up Gregory Rand's 22 fin ish. Michigan's Matt Maximoff ra n thi rd ahea d of West Vir gini a's J oshua Swea t an d BT Racing's J immy Evans. In th e 65cc class Rand rebounded with the win ahead of th e Kawasakimounted Evans . Indiana 's Kerrie Fleenor, Maximoff and Ohio's Brock Sellar ds also finished in the first five. In the 50cc Automatic di vision it was J eremy Berwanger taking the top trophy in front of Curtis Fryer and J ason Juskae. William Pierce and Kirk Rogers rounded out th e top five in the class. With so many hot up-and-coming riders like McClear, T exas ', Grayson G oodman , Moree, Iowa's Chad Pederson, and T ennessee's Mike Brown fill ing up the B classes , it was no wonder that those divisions were the most competit ive of the day. Yamaha-mounted Pederson opened th e action with a win in group one of the 114-rider 125cc B class. Pederson took th e victory with two moto wins over Indiana's Bill Silvarole an d Moree. Silvarole ba cked his second place finish up with a fourth for second overa ll while Goodman ran 5-3 for third. In division two ra cing Georgia's T odd Neal went 1-1 for the top fin is h, bettering Suzuki-mounted Ch ad Lowe in both heats . Behind L owe ca m e Ka wa saki-mounted Ri chard Wetzel with a 4-3 tall y. McL ear took the third 125cc B division with another perfect two moto sweep with Brown riding second in both heats. Bryan Jones placed third overall in that class, Goodman, Brown, and Neal each ' returned with convincing 250cc B wins, ano ther clas s sp li t into three divi sions du e to 94 en tries. Goodman scored the group one win with a II count, bettering Suzuki-mounted Peter Malyj and Scott Darnold. In division two it was Brown tak ing the win ahead of Pederson with a 2-1 finish to Pederson's 1-2. James Eickkel ran third . Neal took division three with his second 1-1 ride of th e day , topping Jones and Yamaha-mounted Eric Rettig. In th e Open B class Shane Kennedy took the top honors via 1, I showings. KTM-mounted Brian Kohl placed second with Kentucky's Jeff St einrockrunning third. Yamaha-mounted Jimmy Leach and Pennsylvania's Dennis Olliver filled out the first five positions. With 102 riders registered in the 125cc C class, three divisions ran with .Virgin ia 's Michael Martin, ' West Virginia's Anthony Newman, and Ohio's Bob Heareth each chalking up wins.. . In the three-division 250cc C class it was Newman taking his second . win of the day in division one wliile
