In 350cc class action Honda rider Mark Woodw ard went 1-2 for th e overallwin with Jay Pren ot out on the track again, this time capturing second overall via a 3-1 ou ting. Brad Clausen rounded ou t th e top three with a 2-3 performance. In th e 200cc cl ass, Don Ross, Maxwell Shelton, a nd Brian Alexander , wer e followed across th e fini sh line by Chris Bergstrom and Mike St. John in mo to one with identical results in moto two. The class with th e larges t turnout wa s th e 80cc race, a nd wi th over 15 riders th e action was never-ending. In mo to o ne, J immy Lewi s mot ored first into tu rn o ne with Rod ger Doggrell o n a h ybr id Ka wasak iframed, H onda XR- powered mini rig h t beh ind him. As the rid ers sorted th em selves o ut, Ron Wood on a stock l ooking XR was o n th e move, quickly di sp laci ng Doggrell a nd tu cking in behind Lewis. Running in th e lead pack was Spi ke Racing's Ray Groom in h is first a ppearance since being injured last year. Lewis held off the charges of Wood for th e ent ire mo to . Wood ga ve hi s little XR - everyth ing he co uld, but still co uld not find a line th at would carry him past th e lead mini. As th e moto came to an end, Lewis took th e chec kered first w ith Wood in second a n d Doggrell taking third. On the downside, Open Pro Willy Musgrave severel y jammed his righ t ankle in th is moto which prevented him from making the second Open Pro moto. Mu sgrave still finished sixth in th e moto. In moto two , Lewi s aga in ho leshot th e field with Doggrell and Wood in 'close co m pany . "Sp ike" once again displ aced Do/?grell af ter a midpack start. L eWIS a n d Wood pi cked.up where they left off in moto o ne wi th Wood fin all y finding th e hot line to sh oot in to th e lead o n lap four. Lap five found Lewi s ahead WIth a persistent Wood leading on lap six: Lewis out -powered Wood going down th e back straight a nd held on for th e moto a nd overall win.
