Cycle-backed Jeff Barnhart took home the next two trophies. Lojak's lead reached two minutes at th e halfway po int, but it was Brown who seemed to be turning in the best laps. After recovering from his terrible start th e Ohio rider began work ing through th e pack a t a feveri sh p ace, fin all y ca tc hi ng Summers and Pl essinger aft er fou r laps. Smith/Tsubakil Answer/KK Cycle Supply rider T im Sh ephard had al so com e through the pack to contend for a top five position,but the Open class pilot was having trouble with a weak top end and eventuall y had to back off of th e pa ce for seventh overa ll. After six laps Lojak's lead read four minutes, and Husky's top gun was alread y sta rt i n g to cr u i se. Brown, Pl essinger and Summers were freight-training behind him, Summers having recovered from a fifth lap fall that saw him stick his front fork into a lapped 'rider 's swingarm. Once separated, Summers got back into th e chase while Hy de continued to hold down the number five overall spot ahead of McSwain. When the white flag flew just before the three hour mark Lojak's lead read five minutes on the pit row stopwatches, bu tit was Plessinger and not Brown who came through the barrels in the runner-up spot. Brown 's charge to the front left the Suzuki pilot with little on reserv e, requiring a last-lap gas stop. Summers also moved back by and set out for th e last lap just two seconds behind Pl essinger. As expected it was Loj ak wh o came into th e special test area first for the final tim e, taking th e checke red flag with a co m fortable mar gin over th e battle for second. Summers lost his bid fo r the overa ll runner-up spot with a late sli p, leaving series leader Plessinger all alo ne in the nu mber two spot. Brown followed Summers in fourth with Spectro/Metzel erl Malcolm Smith's Hyde in fifth. 'With Loj ak claiming the overall P lessinger was adjusted to th e top of the 250cc A class with Brown, H yde, Conner, and Bosnic rounding out the first five. Summers was tab bed 'the Open A winner with McSwain , Shephard, Stan Lojak, and Wilson following.
