The final 250cc C Stock mo to was a thriller as Edwards Cycle Shop's Mike Waters came back form a fifth place start to ru n down race leader Ch ris Nantz, Roswell H onda-backed Nan tz had a four-second lead going into the fina l lap, bu t Waters closed and went by for th e win . Nantz, wh o has returne d to actio n . aft er a lon g ab sence du e to knee problem s, said, "T his was my f irst race in th ree years; I j us t go t tired and had to slow dow n." Wa ters' 22 earned top gold over Will iam Reel' s 1-5 showing. Nantz DNF th e first moto due to a hard sp ill. Nantz had better lu ck in th e 250cc C Modified class and turned in a 42, th ird overa ll performance. Jeff Mushala crashed whi le leading th e first moto but recovered to fmish thi rd behind Nan tz a nd T im Las kis. Mushala claimed the overall after leadin g th e second moto from start to fini sh . Las kis was ru nner-up. R&D Suzuki 's Ch ance Matthews posted the winning 2-1 score in 125cc B Stock raci ng after hi s brother, Scott y, took a hard fall in the final moto, Scotty's 1' 10 was good for fifth . overal l.
