In mot o o ne. Pro Cy cle / Z Racing 's Todd Campbell wa s th e first rider to mak e turn o ne as Will y Mu sgrave took over th e number two positio n with Davis, Ulf J ohansson a nd Ron Turner taking th e to p five positions. As th e rid ers began to sort them selves out, Ca mp bell began to o pen up a sma li lcad while Mu sgrave and Davis began a do g fight for seco nd. At th e midway point, Campbell began to feel th e hea t o f th e th ree-way d ice for seco nd between Mu sgrave, Davi s and Willie Surratt. Davis found a lin e arou nd Musgrave for second whi le Turner joined ,,'1e party to keep th e ra cin g tight. Campbell wa s th e next rid er to fall prey to th e Davi s' cha rg e, a nd as th e chec kered flag came o ut for Davi s, Campbell was on ly a short di stance beh ind in close co m pa ny with Mu sgrave. Surratt th en went into th e lead a nd began to pu ll a way from Davis w hen his engine went sour. putting Davis into the lead to the fin ish. Coleman worked by Joe Ellington, Peter Phillips and Pa u l Austin th en spent- th e second ha lf of hi s motos doing some spe cta cular tabl etops. Majeski streaks at Linda's Speedway ST By Len Breech JONESTOWN , PA, AP R. 9 Rob Maj eski kept the fami ly win str eak alive when he held o ff the cha lle n ge of Lew Woods in th e 600cc Expert class, as Linda 's Speedway became th e first new track 10 run short tra ck rac es in this area in a few years. A Maj eski fami ly member ha s tak en every 60!lcc Expert final thus far th is season. The ope ni ng lap of the fina l found two pa cks. Majeski, Lew Woods and Micky R usden battli ng for first with Todd Hurst , Kenn y Mo h ler a n d Ran d y T exter - severa l yards ba ck battling for fourth. Whi le Maj esk i a nd Woods pulled away , Hurst took over third. In the mid laps Woo d s to ok the lead, but Majesk i rega ined it two laps lat er , At th e line Majeski won by a len gth. After bein g so close in both 250cc Expert ra ces th is year Mike Klopp finall y won h is first ra ce as a n Expert by ta king a wire-to-wire win over Randy T exter and Dave Duha in e. While Klopp sta yed severa l yards in front o f th e ot hers , Duhaine a nd T ex ter ba ttled th e entire 10 la ps' fo r seco n d. Duhaine held seco n d on th e eig h th lap, o n ly to have T exter pass o n the following lap and h ol d him orr to fin ish seco nd behind Klo p p. In the 125cc Amat eu r ra ce Kevin Varnes an d Paul Southard ra n sideby-side th e entire eig h t-la p heat. So uthard ran a preci se. tight insid e line, with Varnes able to catch him on th e straights, but never quite able to la ke th e lead. In th e fin al, Varnes managed to slip underneath Southard a few times as th ev swa p ped th e lead back a nd forth. 'Bu t on th e eig h th lap. So uth ar d hi t a rut an d bri efly lost his mome ntu m , giv ing Varnes th e br eak h e was looking for to tak e th e win. Dallas Baer looked lik e he was going to win the 600cc Ama teur fin al as he gr abbed the lead fro m hi s bro th er Darryl a nd Trent Willis a t th e sta rt . But Will is gra bbed th e lead o n th e third lap, and Charles Glantz took second on th e fourth lap as th e tightl y bunch ed pack roa red arou n d the ov al.
