The two rider s swap ped p osi tions sev eral times each lap with Perez co mi n g o ut o n top. La wrence took th e win over Flippen, Blanchard , Ridgwa y a nd Perez. At th e start of the seco nd ' moto Suzuki-mounted Scott T ak a c s grabbed th e ea rly lead followed by J erry Wright, Lawrence, Ridgway a nd Kevin Guyer. On th e first lap Wri ght d ro p p ed LO seventh an d h anded seco n d LO Lawrence. As the race progr essed Lawrence started to n arrow th e gap separa ting h imself a nd T a kac s, an d two la ps la ter h e was rig h t on the rea r fender of 'T a kacs' Suzuki waiting for a m ista ke. La wre nce th en proceeded LO stu ff Takacs in a berm and th e .rw o ride rs co lli ded , but Lawrence came o u t o n top wi th T akacs close behind. While Lawre nce a nd. 'I'-akacs were balll in~ for th e lead Guyer m oved into third followed by Ridgway an d Perez. O n th e fi nal ~tap R id gway dr opped to sixth , ~jn~ i~erez.a n d Flip pen into fo urth a ndrfifth. Lawrence went o n to win th e rn oto an d th e overa ll. Takacs finished the m o to seco nd, G u yer was thi rd and Perez . was fourt h. Ida ho 's Bob Krah used a perfect I-I score to beat J im O 'Neal a n d Da vid Rogers in th e Old Timer Masters class. At th e sta rt of th e first moto Krah grabbed th e hol esh o t ahead of Rogers , O 'Nea l, Ron Du ga n a n d R ich Sch illing, Short ly into th e m o to both O 'Nea l a nd Du ga n passed 'Rogers, th en O'Nea l, bettered h is pace and started to catc h Krah . H a lfw a y through th e m oto O' Neal was on ly a few bike len gt hs beh ind Krah but su dde n ly started to drop o ff the pace. Krah agai n grabbed th e ea rly lead at th e start of th e secon d rno to followed closely by O ' Nea l, Rogers, Dugan a nd Sch illing. O n the first la p O ' Neal rea lly turned u p the th ro ttle a nd began LO p ut the heat on Krah. O 'Neal edged up alongside of Krah several times but was never abl e to ta ke away the lead. Wh ile th ey battled , Krah a nd O 'Neal built up a I Q-second cus hion separa ti ng the m from third. With on ly a few la ps LO go Du gan fell to fifth , a llowing Sc hi lli ng to take fo urth behind Rogers.
