Astro Arena Februa ry 5-7,1988 Winner Johnson does a post-race interview. It was his first victory at Anahe im Stadium. was ru nni ng 12th in the 22-rider class. Gaddi s maintained his lead for half the race until Kiedro wski moved in and snatched th e to p spo t away from Gad di s. At th is poi nt, th e top five riders were Kiedrowski, Gaddis, Larry Ward, Ma tiasevich and Kyle LewIS. Shortl y af ter dro pping into second place, Gaddis almost went down over the tri pl e jumps, lettin g Ward slip into second. With o nl y a few laps remainin g, the battle for the top five positions was extremely close. Matiasevich event ually zapped Gadd is fo r third and was setting his sights on Ward. Two la ps fro m the fini sh , Lewis dropped his mount o ver a pla teau jump, surrendering fifth to Canoy.
