The February 20 AMA Supercross tentatively scheduled for Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego, California, has been canceled, according to the AMA, but Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group announced today that the event will become part of MTEG's nonAMA-sanctioned Super Crown of Motocross Series, which will be sponsored by Coors. The Super Crown series will include stadium motocross races in Anaheim, California, January 30; San Diego, California, February 20; and Los Angeles, California, June 18. The three events will be billed as the Coors Super Crown of" Stadium MX. Tom Karr, program manager for the Golden, Colorado. brewery said, "We are very pleased to include the Coors Super Crown in our overall sports program for 1988." Amateurs practice and heats will be the first events before any pro-practice. After the pro-practice and opening ceremonies the 250cc amateur final w ill be the first event of the evening in front of the big Supercross crowd. Ten amateur Supercross trophies w ill be awarded . The amateur Supercross riders wi ll then be moved into the pro-Supercross heats by their finis h on the amateur final. All amateur riders who ride in the pro-heats w ill be paid a minimum of $47.00 plus a years paid AMA membership and one years paid ProAm license. .
