Lee navigates to Albany SX win By Clay Light ALBANY, OR, J AN. 9 Honda-m ounted Ri chi e Lee navrga ted through p ourin g rai n a nd freezing temperatures to wi n the 250cc Inter m ed ia te class a t the Albany Supercross ro u nd of th e Motocross Northwest Winter Series. Neither th e pouring rain or two feet of slop wo u ld sto p Lee's incred ible performances, nettin g the CR jockey a I-I w in in the cl a ss a t the co mp letio n. In the fir st mota, Lee and Pro cla ss rid er Rob Annen waged a battle for th e lead - with Annen prevailing. Trailing Lee across th e finish were Aaron Bo ehmer a n d Benjamin Wageman. Moto two was much easier for Lee Sin ce Annen wa s a no- show. Lee's lead grew in creasingly with each lap and by the midway point in the mota he had built up a com fortable lead of 16 seconds over Boehmer. Lee had little diffi culty enro u te to his I-I demolition of th e class. Boehmer finish ed seco nd o vera ll followed by Wa gem an 's 3-3 p erforman ces. Rounding o u t th e top five were Frank McKuhn and H onda rider Pat Schou weil er. In the fir st 125cc Beginner outing Matt Gable stayed on two wh eels longest to take the win foll owed by Joe Ru shing, Aaron Blanchard , Robert Egan a nd Kawasaki-mounted Eri c Cummings. Ru sh in g got th e handle on the second moto a nd held on for th e duration whil e a ba ttl e for seco nd between Mik e N ova and G abl e waged some two turns back. Ru shing's 2-1 tallies were good for th e overall win followed by Gable with 1-3 scores, Nova, Blanchard and Cummings, who fini shed fifth overall after 5-4 po stings. Chad Berry used his mud riding expe rience to outdistance th e 125cc Junior class, but it didn 't co me completely without a battle, however, as lon e intermediate Jeremy Skokan co n tin ued his impressive riding. Skokan went I-I to top th e Intermediate ,po rtion followed by Berry , winner of both Junior co ntests. Second to Berry was Todd Burchaett and T om Co ll ie finished third. . . . , Bob Leach took tap honors in a combined 30-40/ Up The Hill class. Leach a nd Mike H olbrook swap ped mota win s wi th Leac h taki ng th e second moto for th e overa ll win.
