a B PRODUCT EVALUATION ~ Roko Sports Quick Strap An ybod y wh o takes off-road mot or cycle racin g se rio us ly is a lways looking for an advantage over the other guy, while th e weekend trai l rid er is always looking for a w~y to make th e 'da y riding in the hills a little easier. Roko Sports had both kind of rid ers in mind wh en th e company inv ented th e Quick Strap goggle strap. The product itself co nsists of two separate short gogg le stra ps that attach to any popular goggle, such as Scotts, Oakleys, Smiths, etc., (after cu tting off th e goggle's original wrap-around elastic strap). One foam pi ece and o ne Velcro patch ar e included in the package that adhere to both sides of most helmets. The foam pi ece has a plastic post o n it to secure th e throttle side of th e strap to th e helm et, wh ile th e left side of the helm et is where th e Velcro patch sticks to. The wh ol e system tak es only minutes to in stall. Wh en using goggles eq uip ped with th e Quick Stra p system, th e design ma kes it sim ple to remove the goggles with one quick swip e of the left hand, leaving the goggles to dangle o n th e right side of the helmet. When th e goggles ar e needed again, it 's .easy to reach around and attach the left strap to the Velcro side of th e helmet. For th e racer o r end uro rider, th is could be an a d vantage in so me si tua tio ns, suc h as if yo u sudde n ly find yourse lf having to push your mo tor cycle, prime tim e for goggles to fog up. With th e Quick Strap, you don 't have to take both your hands off the handlebars for fast goggle re moval, sav ing va luable tim e o n th e trail. T he Quick Strap can also be ha ndy wh en stoppi ng to do o n-the-trail repairs, or in wet wea ther riding. Wh en the len s gets covered wi th wa ter a nd din , ' one hand is all that 's needed to remove th e goggles. again saving time. Some Cycle N ews staffers found the Qu ick Strap goggle stra ps to be' be neficial , whi le others weren 't com pletely sold on the idea. Main ly because they didn 't like the goggles flopp ing down the side of th e helmet when riding. They found it to be distracting. But th e goggles co uld be slid up over the helm et 's visor and then reattached to th e Velcro patch . Bu t if there are trees around, th e goggles co uld be knocked off th e helmet and dangle at'the back of the rider's neck. The Quick Strap will set you back a pproxima tely $15, but for many, it will be a worthwhile inv estment.
