Je ff Gabhart topped the 60cc Min i Bike class o ver Held er Alveranz Jr. and jarid Banks in what has become a great class for the moms and pops to screa m abo ut. ' Veterans were mixed in two races with Fred Faltersack topping the first round which was novice and junior orient ed. Rod Lake was second on an ATK with Dan Espinoza finish ing third. Butch Cochran rode his Victor 500 against Bostrom and Joe Carrera in the second race .but it was Bostrom from behind to the checkers with Carrera second over Cochran. Vintage and Classic racing was a great addition with Fred Faltersack winning th e Ligh tweight J un io r portion on a CCM over Gary Milewski 's modified Bultaco and Dave Walden's BSA Victor. A trem endous battle sa w Craig McLean, Earl Cochran and Jerry Brandt swap spots in a co mbined Open and Expert race. McLean 's 500ccTriumphwasa good starter but Cochran's Twin Triumph took over on th e long stra igh t aft er th e jump and when McLean got a little wide or wild Jerry Brandt took o ver seco nd o n his 1974 Yamaha Scrambler. Cochran had held the gr o up well in th e heat, but it was a fin e inside pass by Brandt th at pu t him first. In mo to o ne J en sen go t the hol eshot foll owed by Monty Spalding, La nce Rudge, co u H ickson and Adam West. On lap three H ickson go t by Rudge for two laps and then Ru dge repaid the favor. Lap by lap Rudge started 10 reel in Jensen until la p eig h t when Ru dge got'by Jensen in tim e to ta ke the chec kered flag in fro n t of the H onda rider. Behind th em in o rder was Hi ckson , West, Dennis McConnell a n d Ernie Roberts. In the final rnoto Jensen got the scratch ahead of Hi ckson , Roberts, West, Rudge a nd Tara Harrison. Jensen rode a flawless race wit h H ickso n back a ways right to the finish. West moved up and battled with Rudge lap after la p, and with a la p to go West won out. The rest of the pos itions remai ned the same and at the checkered flag it was Jensen, Hickson , West , Ro berts , Rudge, McConnell, Harrison , and Chad Gravelle. In 'the 250cc Junior class Pro Caliber's Charles Drake took his KTM to the lead ahead of Paul Stuen, Jim Lamkin, Alan Evans, Mike Lresch, Erick Munson and the others. On lap two Evans moved into . second for good. At the checkered flag it was Drake, Evans, Stuen, Munson, Lamkin. Dan Reynolds, and th e others. In th e final moto Evans got the scra tch and went wire-to-wire witho u t looking back. Behind him off of the line was Lresch , Dave Hampton, Lamkin, Stuen , Reynolds and the others. On lap three Reynolds , Lamkin and Munson all improved th eir po sition. Lap five saw Reynolds slide under Lresch to take control 'of seco nd. Kris o-sn also moved up a notch with o ne lap to go.
