Also jo in ing Wing in the winner 's circle was Medford's Ron Milligan , wi nner of th e 250cc Intermedia te class. . Win g easi ly destroyed both his 'm o lOs, wh ich ga tes a field of Intermediates and Juniors as wel l. In the first mot o, Wing battled it out with Husky-mounted Fritz Martin and regular class dominator Ri ck Roberts (Yama ha) but it was th e Kawa saki of Wing £l ying to victory, i while Martin edged Roberts for second. Don Gilikson ( H o n d a) topped T erry Russ a nd Steve Hartley for the J un ior win. T he second contest was among th e day's best races. The track was superb, much thanks, once again , lo the hard work of Ralph Huffman. Wing roosted his way aro u nd th e co ur se, taking the checkered flag in first, good for a I-I sweep. Martin asain took second with Ro bert s third and thi rd overal l. Gilikson prevail ed aga in in th e Juni or ranks, good for a 1-1 win , beating Russ' 2-2 tally a nd Hanley's 3-3 performan ces. Unlike th e pa st several races a t Clarks Branch Ra cewa y, th e largest turnout of riders were the 250s , usuall y, it 's the 125s. Milligan and Kawasaki-mounted Mike Harwood had a bru tal battle in th e first 250cc Interm edi a te co ntest, wh ich saw Harwood cros sing the fini sh lin e in fir st in th e fir s t m o to , beatin g Milli gan and Cu rt Cunningham. Rick Bault was Milligan 's closest competi tion in th e second mota with Harwood ge tting caug h t in traffic and fini shing third , giving Mill igan th e o vera ll after h is 2-1 rid es.
