Colon claims Lockhart Motocl'oss win By Diane Eller FT. LAUDERDALE, FL, NOV. 8 Bob Colon used a 2-1 score 10 wrap up the overall victory in th e Senior class at the Lockhart Stadium Motocro ss. Co lon took the holeshot in the fir st moto and lo ne Super Senior class rider AI Gardner was second off th e line. The two tangled in tum two with Gardner getting by to take over the lead. Kevin Noonan was third off the line and also got by Colon 10 move into second. Noonan ch arged Gardner and took over the lead position but stalled his motor. Gardner got by before Noonan could get underway, but Noonan regained the lea d before the finish wi th Gardner second and Colon third. In moto two it was again Colon taking the holeshot with Gardner second and Noonan third. Colon gained a comfortable lead while Gardner tangled with a berm and Noonan got by. Gardner caught up with Noonen and took over second place, then got by Colon when he fell and took over th e lead and th e win for the moto. Colon managed 10 hang onto second and first Senior with Noonan taking third. Steven Eller took the lead off th e line a n d into tum one of the Mini Expert class with Trey Small closing the door on another rider 10 move into second. Small closed to within striking distance of Eller, but Eller maintained his lead over Small for the victory in moto one. At thestart of rnoto two it was Eller again taking the holeshot with Small second. Small took the lead on lap two when Eller bobbled but suecombed 10 the pressure Eller was applying for the n ext lap and went off the track, Eller regained the lead . and took the win. Jim Royko pulled the lead over James Ferrini in moto one of the 250cc A class. Royko maintained the lead with a comfortable distance and took th e win with Ferrini taking second. Royko again p u lled the holeshot in moto two with Ferritti second, Doug We inman th ird and Steve Rodriguez fourth. Royko went down and Ferritti took over the lead and Rodriguez moved into second. R o yko got underway again and reeled Rodri guez in and made a pass. Royko then set h is sights on Ferritti and came within a tire's length before the moto ended. The tOP honors in the Super Mini and Senior Mini classes at Montrose MX went 10 Honda rider Steve Giloney. Giloney, sponsored by Weidler Dyna m ics, dominated both classes and it was a good showing for the rider's first experience on a sand track.
