Moore wins Sand .Springs Trials By Rich Allman SAND SPRINGS, OK, NOV. 15 Man Moore continued his winning streak by taking the Rookie class victory at the Northeastern Oklahoma Trials Team's 'event at Sand Springs. Moore easily outdistanced David Moore, who experienced some bike problems. The event was held during a downpour that made the course very difficult and forced the elimination of some sections as they became almost impas able. john Mizell cored an impressive vicLOry in the Novice class, losing half as many points as second place finisher Todd johnson. Paul Bolen was third. Gabe Mizell and Dewey Harper battled in the Intermediate class with Mizell coming out on LOp by 23 points. Expert Steve Fujan found his only real competition were the section a he breezed to first overall. Renick kept his lead for most of the first moLO, but was finally passed by Beckham's Honda. Renick's Kawasaki did not complete the second moto, and the second place went LO Honda-mounted Hunter Ouothers. The 125cc Intermediate class provided the most exciting two-man contest when a pair of Kawasakis battled for the win. Malt Chapa holeshot both motos and was edged out of a win in the first by Pedro Gonzales, from Monterrey, Mexico. In the second m.oto Chapa kept his read, closely followed by Gonzales, who tried to find space to pass Chapa inside a turn. Chapa shut the door on Gonzales, and both riders poured on the coal, Chapa trying to keep his lead, and Gonzales trying to take it away.
