Chris Young (Yam) fini hed (Continued to page 29) Motorcyclists in U.S. and Canada unite for fundraiser NEWPORT BEACH, CA, OV. 23 Motorcyclists in the United States and Canada will unite next summer to fight blindness in the single largest fund-raising event ever attempted by motorcyclists. The Ride For Sight will be a highvisibility rally held simultaneously on June J.I and 12 in many locations in both countries to raise funds for research into the cause, prevention and treatment or retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Projections based on experience in Canada, where the Ride was started in 1979 by a motorcyclist whose girl friend suffered from RP, indicate that the National Ride for Sight in the U.S. may eventually raise $5 million annually. More than 7000 motorcyclists took. part in the Ride in Canada this year. The first arional Ride in the U.S. next year may have as many a 50,000 rider. As the oHicial charity of motorcyclists in all of North America, Ride For Sight will enhance the image of motorcycling while aiding the fourmillion people aHected with RP worldwide. Coordinated locally through volunteer centers, the Ride will be overseen at the state level throughout the U.S. Each participant will be given a donor book and will be responsible for collecting funds for his or her Ride.
