LAKE GE ' EVA, WI , SEPT. 27
Dave Rohrschneid er wrapped up th e
District 16 tri al s title with a win at
Lake G en eva. Rohrschneider h as
been virt ua lly unbea tabl e this yea r,
but he did hav e some serious co m petition. Nod Smage took runnerup h on ors, e ig h t p o ints behind
Rohrschneider.
Lake Gen eva co nsisted ol natural
and man-made obstacles. The Champi o ns hip class riders had one section
where a sharp downhill was fo llowed
by a Ll-t urn ov er a log and a n
immediate uphi ll which was 12 feet
high. After dropping ba ck down the
hill , th e riders had 10 ride up a [ourfoot h ig h vertica I cement wall.
Ro h rsch neider hammered the top of
th e wall with his skid p late, but had
eno ug h speed 10 slide over. Smage
used a lill ie more speed and also
made th e wall, but Zigi Jedmak had
a lillie less luck when his H RC
RT L250 smashed th e wall hard and
bounced backward, taking five
poin ts for th e section.
Doug Ha y took the Expert win by
two points a hea d of Jim Altemus.
Altemus rode better than Hay did,
but he couldn't make it up a killer
uphill th at Hay co u ld. The hill was
about 40 feet high and n early vertical
at the top. Altemus' Fantic 301 didn't
have th e proper gearing to make the
hill, and h e cra shed a ll three a ttem p ts
taking a maximum 15 points. Hay
nai led th e hill wide open on his
Yamaha 350 and cleaned the sectio n
a ll three attempts, gaining 15 points,
Just enough 10 sneak by for the win.

points, but Blose had more zero rides.
Clark R un yard was third , o n ly one
point back, and Rick Schmidt took
fourth . Blose, a former District 16
Champion, likes th e events a li ttle
tougher, making it more favorable
10 the beuer riders. One more mistake
would have put him back in third
p lace. Schmidt was one of the
