I I j erry Cook thoroughly dominated th e Class 4 and 5 endurance ra ce at ro u nd six of th e FGPRA Championsh ip Seri es today in T ampa, lapping the entire field. As th e da y progressed and the threat of rain became a reality the ability to change tires or run tread ed tires became a determining factor in the resul ts. . T oddy Ousley on his Yamaha FZ750 finished second overall and first in Class 4. The best battle of the ra ce was for third as j o h n Curwick, on a GSXR750, managed to hold off Buzz Wells also on a Suzuki 750. Curwick was ab le to negotiate h is way around slower traffic more effectively than Wells , givi ng h imself som e brea thing room ' for the duration of the race. In the Class I, 2 and 3 Endurance race Yamaha-mounted Chip Terrell, Eddie Kelley, Dave Robichaux, and Honda-mounted R o bb y Costa fought for the lead . T errell was ab le to put some distance on Kell ey. The ba ttle fo third developed between Costa a nd Robichaux. Robichau x made several attempts to get around Costa, but was unable to do so until Costa went into turn four too hot and took a temporary leave of absence from th e race course. Even tually , Costa was ab le to pas s Robicha ux and regain third place. Foriythree laps later, that was the fini sh ing order with Todd Keessee on his 600 Ninja taking fifth overa ll and was the first Novice to pl ace. The final s for th e Sprin t races featured several good races and rain. The GP 3 race was a tight duel between Kell ey a nd Robi ch aux, both on FZ600s. With never more than a couple bike lengths betw een them throughout the race, Kell ey was able to hold off Robi ch aux for a n impressive victory. In the Cafe 3 feature, Kell ey again got th e hol eshot, but th is time revenge was Robi ch aux 's as he was able to pass Kelley a nd win the race. In both the GP 3 and Cafe 3 events, Keessee fini sh ed third overall a nd first in th e Novi ce cla sses. Keessee had a good da y as he en tered three races and took home three first place Nov ice trophi es. R ~u~ s ~ ENDR 1/2/3 : 1. Chip Terr ell (Yam); 2. Eddie Kelley (Yam); 3. Robbie Costa (Hon); 4.
