Frank was also sched uled to rid e th e Open class bu t, " I had a sore leg from a rider cras hing into me on one of th e beach ju mps abou t halfway thro ugh the race. Simons was not as well prepared _ for the ra in, however , a nd without roll-offs had to grab a clea n pair of goggles every lap as the riders went through the mandatory 10 mph pit area every lap. H e also ran off the cours e, picked u p som e ba nne rs in his rear wheel, stop ped to p u ll them out; and had one more gas stop than Moral es.
