Little did they know that th e Bro wns were going to make it a fam ily affair on th e night. Sco tty agai n dominat ed the action and too k first place in th e main wit h J eff - cla im ing second. Sa tu rday's ac tio n also saw th e retu rn to motorcycle act ion of threetime U.S . Open Speedway Ch ampion Gene Wood s. Wood s hadn 't raced in 14 mon th s since being slapped with a one-year suspens ion. T he veteran didn 't ma ke th e main, but he did score fo ur and a half points. . George Lazor, who came all the way fro m H am lin, New York, is on e of the top ice racers in America bu t he had h is share of problems on Friday and only no tched six and a half points. Sat urday also took its toll and Lazor got seven. T hat was . on e point shy of what it took to get into the main. Scotty Brown again had it set on cruise control and he top scored th e heat races wit h 11 points agai n . Bro th er J eff was next in line with . 10. Seth Church , who was showing an impressive style to offic ia ls, was third with eig h t an d a half . Hilland and New Zeal and's T ony Briggs were next wi th eigh t each and Briggs took the ticket to th e main by defea ting H illand in a ru noff. Before th e Fir st Division stars co uld get onto the trac k, th e Division Two ri ders were given a chance to strut th eir stuff. Rundle, n o t hap py with tak ing last in Friday 's ma in, did a masterfu l job of slidi ng his stud ded tires arou nd th e slippery su rface for th e win. Gr ant too k secon d with Shawn Repport, a winner at San Fra nciso 's Cow Pal ace last Febru ar y, third. Sa turday 's show was relatively calm co mpared to Friday 's but tha t all changed o nce the mai n came o nto the track. It was time for the bea ting and th e banging to begin. T he crowd of 6500 all came to their feet for th e start of th e main and Scotty Brown, out of gate three, immediat ely roc keted into the point positio n bu t it didn 't take long for the first red £lag to fall wh en Briggs too k a n ice samp le. Briggs was sent to th e penalty line and had to look at th e backs of th e Brown brothers and Ch urch . Bro wn , with the R AZ Video Camera moun ted on hi s helmet, again hurried into the lead, but he had Church a lo ng with h im . Ch urch began banging on Brown but th e veteran rider wo u ldn' t budge. Church th en sp un head ing into turn three on the secon d lap and was hi t by Bri ggs. Out came a no ther red. T he third start had both Church and Briggs off the penalty line wh ile th e Brown brothers started at the ta pes. Needless to say, fir st a nd seco nd spo ts wer e goin g to the Browns and for the second even ing in a ro w Scotty Brown cla im ed first. Brother Jeff took second wi th Briggs third and Church fourth. • After th e eve nt Scotty Brown com me nte d on his mastery of th e ice racin~ action. " It is not so easy to do.
