Watts (24) gets the jump as the 250cc Pros leave the line. Watts won both inotos to wrep up the victory over Michael Craig. Craig leads Jeff Mabery in a 125cc Pro moto. Craig took the overaD victory in the c1ess with a pair of wins; Ty Davis was second. CMC/Dodge Truck Trans-Cal Series: Round 4 Watts walks awa~ with wins at Huron By Troy Scott HURON, CA, SEPT. 27 Despite riding with two sprained ankles incurred during practice, Kawasaki support rider Tommy Watts walked away with wins in both the 250 and 500cc Pro classes at round four of the CMC/Dodge Truck'Trans-Cal Series at k Huron C yc I e P ar. W ~llS . romped on the compelluon 34 and'won both motos in each class. "Coming off the whoops I jumped real high and landed.real hard," said Watts. "I bottomed out and sprained both of my ankles; I'm glad I didn't break anything." In the 500cc class Watts started near the front in both motos and quickly worked his way into the lead. Doug O'Donnell claimed the second spot, narrowly edging out Gordon Ward in the overall column. Watts battled with Jon Nelson' to take the win in the first 250cc Pro moto, then moved to the front on the first lap of the second moto and never looked back. Michael Craig finished second overall and Nelson took third. Pro Circuit/Yamaha speedster Craig claimed both motos to take the l25cc Pro win, Ty Davis scored second overall and Bader Manneh was third. In the first 500cc Pro moto Hondamounted Mike Dulap captured the holeshot and pulled a slight lead thr~ugh the fust couple of, rums unul Watts shot past. Runmng 10 third was Honda rider Rich Mythen, who was ahead of Mike Larson. Before the first lap was complete Larson made a charge and passed both Mythen and Dunlap to sieze control of the number two spot. Two more Honda riders entered the picture as Jeff Reynolds and O'Donnell were on the move. O'Donnell found a way past Dunlap and was in for third, and Reynolds moved by a short time later as Dunlap dropped ba.ck, By lap three the order was Watts putting distance on Larson, O'Donnell, Reynolds and Kawasaki. mounted Ward.
