Jim McClain (Kaw). eo Ingels aces Baylands Speedway C'ship By Bill Spencer FREMONT, CA, SEPT. 12 Steady Eddie Ingels won the Baylands Speedway Championship in perfect form to wrap up the season. In~els was the top rider at the Napa Wme Cup and the top dog at Auburn and needed the Baylands championship LO wrap up tOP gun for the northern California season. Riding the A &: A Racing Services Special for Quaker State and Petrich Cycles, Ingels proved best from the first event, where he downed arch rival Bart Bast, LO the perfect 15 points after the fifth round. Jim Sisemore finished second on the Truman Bailey, Arai Helmet Special with just one point down, where he lost to Ingels' in event 13. The first of 20 Scratch races saw Ingels ~o for the throat immediately by gaung quickly and leading all laps. Ingels won easily over Steve Martin and Rocky Robinson. .Ingels continued winning in the seventh event over 'Kid Curry, then won another heat over Sisemore. Ingels continued his sweep with a win in event 18. In the final Ingels aced the gate with a rocket start and never looked back. Sisemore finished second in points, just one back. Results ANAl; 1. SUGAR GROVE, OH, SEPT. 5 Yamaha/Scott/PJ -IIBe\l-backed Mike LaRocco romped LO overall wins in both Pro classes, taking three firsts and a third at the Third Annual Budweiser Series MX, held in Sugar Grove. Kawasaki Team Green's Dale pangler grabbed the lead in moto one of the Heavyweight Pro class, followed by Michigan's Jeff BeckingLOn and LaRocco. Before the completion of lap one, LaRocco was hounding Spangler for fir l. pangler held off LaRocco' aggresive moves as the duo pulled away from the pack. LaRocco and Spangler bumped on lap four with LaRocco coming out on top. LaRocco claimed the win, stretching his lead over runner-up pangler. Beckington finished third, and Kawasaki-mounted Steve Childress took fourth. Spangler again aced the start in moLO two, followed by Honda's Greg Bowen and David Hand. Bowen went down on lap one LO drop to last. LaRocco, who was 'sixth on the start, moved through traffic to take over second. SIlmgler held LaRocco at bay as they raced wheel-LO-wheel around the challenging course. Lap si.x saw the duo tangle and LaRocco went by on the inside to take the lead. LaRocco again LOok first, while Spangler, Beckington, Hand and Childress followed. The first moLO of tlle Lightweight Semi-Pro class saw LaRocco rounding turn one fir t but he almost lost it and dropped several spots, putting Jon Agin in charge. • As LaRocco weaved his way through riders, Agin pulled out a comfortable lead. By lap - four, LaRocco was up LO second and pressuring Agin for first. Agin turned up the throttle, but LaRocco passed him through the stutler bumps to chalk-up one more win for the day. Agin held onto second with Spangler finishing third. Bowen aced moto two after finishing fifth in moLO one. Beckington filed by for second while LaRocco scored a third. Results MINI SR: 1.
