" I had a good ride," said C etz, " bu t I burned th e fourth check a nd the last 30 miles was all tra il wi th four late chec ks. They got us behind and just kep t us there until th e end. I can look back now and see where r coul d have shaved 10 points, but you ca n a lways look back and see how you co uld have done better." Dana Koenig pi cked up the third place trophy in th e 200 A class riding a Kawasaki KX80. Koenig has ca used quite a stir in District 23 where he leads the Ma sters class for the season with his big : wheel 80. "Almost everyone asks me, 'How do you ride th at little thing in the woods,' '' sa id Koenig. "T hey don 't realize how easy it is to handle a little ma chine on tight trails. Chuck Cannon, win ne r of the O pen A class on a Husq varna 430 Automatic, wasn 't do wn on 'po wer, but he was down o n air in th e front tire when he ca me in a t th e en d of the first loop. " I don't kn ow why I even both er to fix flats," lamented Cannon. " I' ve a lway s got a flat tire. Well , I'm no t going to fix th is one. There are so -man y roc ks it would just go flat again , besides it's so slick I can't tell if it's flat or not." Willard Root and John Menss en finished one-two in the Super Senior class after Menssen drowned out during th e seco nd loop of th e first section. " I drowned ou t at the same spot twice," sa id Menssen. " O nce in the morn ing and a g ain thi s afternoon. " Mark Martin was elevated to the A ranks when he guided his Honda CR250 into the last check with a 42 point loss and won the High Point B trophy. Cynthia Lindgren rode a Kawasaki KX250 into th e winner's circle with a score of 513 and won th e Women 's class. When asked how her husband who also rode did, Cynthia said, " Yo u mean what's his name? I know it sou nds terrible but I don't know." (H e broke on the first loop, Cynthia. ) • G~Met.
