Controversy surrounds the AMA's deci sion to select Bob H annah as th e third member of the U.S. team. " I hate politics," says Hannah, " bu t if they want me to ride, I'll ride." ' . The AMA had a tough decision in selecting a 125cc ride r. The choices were 1986 a n d ' 87 125cc AMA National Champion Micky Dymond, former 125cc National Champion Ron Lechien and former Supercross and 125cc National was shocked when he was told he'd be rid ing a 125. H e sho u ld be shoc ked, he hasn't ridden a 125 in five years. Hannah isn 't too pl eased. " Dymond deserves to go," says H annah, " but I'm glad I'm going. I'ITj not so sure I'm th e right choice to ride a 125, but I'm going to ride th e best I ca n. On a 250 I can beat a nybody in the world, but I never said I co uld win on a 125." ''I'm still pumped I'm going: I hate the politics, but it 's my Job. Politically, this could hurt me, bu t I'm pumped, even on a 125. They pi cked me and that's it.
