World Championship Observed Trials Series: RoundS Tarres tops in Austria SPITAL, AUSTRIA, JULY 7 Spanish teenager Jordi Tarres scored his third World Championship win of the year as he topped the field in the mountainous Austrian countryside. Betamounted Tarres finished the sixhour time limit event with a score of 67, while Italian Diego Bosis was second with 75. The Auslrian round organizers presented a shorll4 section, five-mile long course lO the competitors who were required lO negotiat~ it three times. The event was sparsely attended and drew few favorable comments from the competitors. Thierry Michaud, the Fanticmounted defending World Champion, finished founh on the day and that allowed Bosis to extend his point standings lead over Michaud to 10 points, 122 lO 112. Runner-up Bosis pulled to within two points of Michaud and holds third in the standings with 110 points. The event was particularly disappointing for Brit Steve Saunders as the Fantic' rider, who was tied for third in the point ~tandings with Bosis going into the round, finished 12th and slip~ to fourth in the standings. With but four rounds remaining in the series, Saunders hopes for a title seem to have vanished. SUpeRFUeL - PRO STOCK PRO GAS PRO DRAO - FUNNY BIKeS - PRO STRef:T SUPER GAS - COMPf:TITION .
