Lewis, Ladd land Murray ST wins By Kar~n Lewis MURRAY, KY, JULY II John Lewis put in a come-frombehind ride to top the 250cc class while Aaron Ladd topped the evening's biggest class, the 65cc ranks in short track action at Murray. A light rider iurnout saw a track that held up well with tight corners and extralong straigh ts. David Menser came from the penalty line to grab the holeshot in the 250cc final. Lewis came around the outside of turn one on lap two to grab the lead, which he turned into a runaway win. Menser had his hands full with Denne Williams, until Williams DNF with two laps left. Kevin Woodruff inherited the last top three positions. Ladd took the lead off the start in the 65cc final and was all alone until the halfway Illaf"k when Jon Camp moved up to challenge. A lap later Chris Boone was also in the bunt. Ladd held onto the lead and took the win while Boone slipped underneath Camp to take the runner-up spot. Joshua Knott and Kyle Smith rounded out the top five. Williams and David Flowers battled for the lead in the Open class, until Flowers slipped off the groove. Williams took a straight-away win, as Karl Meyer slipped in ror second over Flowers. Meyer continued the trend of huge lead wins by dominating the Senior class. Buddy Akers, Danny Collins and Bill Just each had second at one time, but it was Akers with the spot at the flag. Results AUTO: 1. Jon Camp (Yam); 2. Beau Bra_II 3. Ja-. Goodwin (Yam). 65: 1. Sadowsld sails to 8ryarRRwin By Jim Fanion LOUDON, NH, JULY 4-5 Expert David Sadowski len~thened his already considerable pomt lead by sweeping the Production One and Two and Middleweight Superspon sprints. Sadowski, aboard his Butch LaCroix-engineered GSXRllOO and GSXR750 Suzukis, and CB600 Honda Hurricane, took all three 10lap jaunts wire-to-wire. In fact, Sadowski's point gap is so outstanding in these classes that he's considering skipping the next Loudon Road Racing Series outing to compete at the Mid-Ohio National Road Races. Another hot weekender, who didn't seem to be bothered by the backward running of the 1.1 mile, 10-turn, Bryar race course was expert Bill Loomis. Loomis aced the Formula One Heavyweight Superspon Modified Production One sprints. The only real competition Loomis had in his wins was in the M-l dash race. John Grush got the leap from the go with Loomis and Jr. Edward LaGram in pursuil. On the third lap, Loomis slid his Suzuki on past Grush and pulled away. The tenacious LaG ram then worked his' GSXTJlOO Suzuki around Grush's FZR1000 Yamaha and came home' second. Grusb trailed close in for third. Results SATURDAV F-l EX: 1. Larry Hanlon; 2. Ed Abdo; 3. As the season tradition continues, Warren Diem was found at the top of the heap once more during a night of all scratch racing. The first round of beat races went in short order. Diem, George Lazor, and Chris Rudy took wire-to-wire wins for three points apiece. Tom Burge bested a £Ougb Pat Cliff in the other heat for what would be the first of his three beat wins. Cliff came back in heat five to down Steve Watson. Lazor took heat six and Diem won another heat in start-tofinish style. Jobn Lewis, who followed Diem home in the first heat, captured the win in race eight to. finish off the second set of heat races. Round three, consisting of heats nine through 12 saw Dale Wakefield, Cliff, Diem and John Lewis collecting three points each. Tom Burge, a usual model of consistency, won only his second race by topping Joel Monell in heat 13. Wake held returned in race 14 and scored his second victory over Mike Cortese. In heat 15, Diem won the first tUm battle wi th Lazor and went on to beat Lazor, Cliff and Greg Didas. Steve Watson snagged bis only win in heat 16. Lazor and Burge won wire-towire events as the track was becoffi-, ing a one-groove raceway. That fact was proven as Diem won the second to the last heat. Wakefield won beat 20 with Cliff second. That gave both riders enough points to enter the four-rider, four-main event final Diem had his Diem Cycle/Keech Video Godden on the pole with Wakefield lined up next to him, Lazor in hole three and Cliff on the outside. Lazor and Diem rode into the first turn together, but the inside advantage gave Diem the lead doWn the back straight. Lazor made a four lap effort to overtake Diem but could not make the pass. Wakefield rode his John Lehle/CarIisle Tire/Simpson Weslake to a third place finish ahead of Cliff. Heat two saw Lazor power his Robinson Cyde/Oury Grip/Tsubaki/JT Racing Jawa into the lead with Cliff tucked into the second spot. Diem was mired behind Wakefield, in fourth after a miscue in turn one. Diem eventually mailaged a third place finish as he and Wakefield both got by Pat am. After two of four main event rounds Lawr
