Two turns later, Vehkonen was leading the way ahead of Mortensen, Johnson, Nils on, Geboers, Holland's Leo Combee, Shaun Kalos, Herring, Sweden's Michele Fanton, Collin Dugmore and Billy Frank. Hannah was running near the back of the pack. "I got a bad start and everyone closed in on me," said Hannah. "I don't really know what happened." With Hannah in the back of the pack, the crowd was expecting LO see a come-from-behind charge by the Suzuki rider, but it never materialized.
