-Kelley wins three -afTampaRR _By Jack Roe _TAMPA, FL, MAY 3 '-It was Eddie Kelley's day all day as he entered three events and won all ~three at the Florida Gran Prix Rider's ~Association Tampa Fairgrounds Toad race. ~ Starting with the first event of the day, Kelley convincingly took first overall and the class 3 win in the class I, 2 and 3 Endurance race. Riding .smooth and fast, Kelley led from the drop of the green flag. By the end of the race, he had established a substantiaJ lead over the rest of the field. As would happen throughout the day, Ducati-mounted David Hand and 1"odd Trumble, aboard a Honda Hurricane, would never be more than a couple of bike lengths apart, vying for second and third . positions. In the Endurance race, Hand finished second, Trumble third. In the Endurance 4 and 5 class race, Jerry Cook rode his Suzuki/BMW of Tampa/Babor Perf. Motorssponsored Suzuki GSXRlIOO to an impressive win, lapping the rest of the field. John Curwick aboard his Suzuki GSXRlloo, finished second, while Reagan Shaw, on another Suzuki 1100, took third overall and third in class 5. Yamaha-mounted Wink Price took fourth overall and first in the class 4 Endurance. In the Cafe and Gran Prix Sprint races, Rick Herndon dominated the Cafe 2 event leading from start to finish. The Gran Prix 2 class feature wouJd be virtually a repeat performance for Herndon, as he collected three wins for the day. Steve Siegfried, on his Suzuk.i 550 had a strong day with his first place ovice finishes in the Production 2, Cafe 2, and Grand Prix 2 class Sprints. He also finished second in the class 2 Endurance race and was the first place Novice in that class. The Cafe 3 and Gran Prix 3 class races would again have Honda/ Yamaha of B.randon-sponsored Kelley showing the rest of the pack the fast way around the circuit, collecting his second and third wins of the day. Second in the Cafe 3 class went to Hand and third went to TrumbJe. These resuJts were reversed in the Gran Prix 3 feature. The Cafe 4 division race had Buzz Wells leading from start to finish with Randy Rhodes taking second overall and first place in the Novice division. In the Gran Prix 4 features, Bruce Osborn, aboard his uzuki/ BMW of Tampa-sponsored Suzuki GSXR750, took less than a lap to pass Price' Yamaha FZ750, and went on to win by a substantial margin. The mo t exciting race of the day took place between John Curwick and Danny Roberts in the Gran Prix 5 event. Both Suzuki-mounted riders took oU and left the rest of the field and were never more than a couple of bike lengths apart. While Roberts was able to close the gap at times, he was uanble to get by Curwick and had to sellle for second. One of the surprise entries of the day was Ruhl Powella, as he came out of retirement, to ride and slide his single cylinder Honda to the Cafe I win. Results ENoUR 5: 1. Jerry Cook (Suz); 2.
