In th e 250cc B class, Dan Damm ann took the h olesh ot with Dave Brown flashing by for an instant on the d o wnh ill d oubles. U nfortu nately , Bro wn 's glory wa s shortlived , as he fell , handing th e lead back to Damma n n for good. Scott Strachota took over to finish seco n d , with Fra n k Lauenro th and Brian Lackey followin g in for th ird and fou rth . Brown recovered from h is first moto cras hes to tak e th e start of m oto two . Bro wn led all th e way to the white flag , but cons ta nt p ressure from Dammann an d a mi ssed shi ft by Bro wn ga ve Da mmann th e op portun ity to get by Bro wn a nd ta ke th e win. Bro wn finished seco n d wi th a 5-2 fin ish, whi le Brian La ckey used a 4:4 fin ish to gra b th ird overa ll. Mean tim e, Steve Downey was flying th rough the pack a fter a bad start. By th e mid wa y p oint, Downe y pa ssed Mu rray for seco n d a nd started to ca tch Backm an. Backman turned on 'the gas an d too k th e win. In moto two, Murra y, once again, took th e ho leshot and led Backma n for th ree laps until Bakeman had a chan ce to take the lead. Do wney ran third but found h im self with a rear fla t tire, and eventua lly dropped o ut. Ba ckm a n styled to th e win, while Mu rra y fi n ish ed se cond.
