Pedero flies at Cocoa Beach MX By Diane Eller COCOA BEACH , FL, APR. 19 Mar cus Pedero ca pt ured th e win in th e 125cc B class at th e fourth a nd final ro und of qual ifying for th e T ampa Amateur Su percross. Pedero aced both motos and took hom e th e victory in front of fellow Honda rider Dean Baker. Pedero was first off the line in moto o ne with Mik e J on es and Baker in pursuit. Pedero pulled out to a lO·second lead a nd never looked back, taking th e win. Jones took a hard spill and let Baker assume the second p lace spot, which he held to th e end of th e rnoto . In moto two Pedero grabbed th e holeshot with Baker close behi nd. Pedero wasted no tim e and again easily str etched ou t a lead, although Baker was able to close the dis tance late in th e mo to to finish a close seco nd at the flag . After running away with the 250cc clas s Williams h it turn on e in front of th e O pe n class ers with T odd Booten breathing down hi s neck. Williams picked up a little breathing room a t th e halfway mark and carried onxor the win. Booten held o nto second aft er holding off Andy Richardson and David Flowers . The Hayden brothers, Tomm y and Nicky, headed th e Mini troops with T ommy taking both the 80cc and 65cc wins.
