" I got the lead and I was really happy abo ut that, but I knew Earl (Ro loff) had so me extra horsepower. I fig ured that once he went by me I' d just try to stic k with him. My p lan was to stick on h is tail a nd not worry abo u t who was com ing up beh ind me." _ Emde said he made some changes to hi s Suzuki after ro und one's fifth place finish . "We put Car ill o rod s in th e bik e, modified th e head to give -us more compression and we tried a different front tir e," he sai d. " It seemed to work a lo t better. We did our homework a nd it paid off. I was a bit di scouraged by fifth place last time, but I'm just go ing to keep working my way u p a nd I m ight just win one of th ese." Doma y, wh o, once again, too k third on hi s Suzuki GSXR7 50, also made some p re-race changes. " We put a new pi pe o n wi th bi gger diam eter tu bes and moved th e power band up to the top end," the 24-yearold said (Michelin Tires/Suzuki of Gl endal e/Yoshimura ). " I was really h app y with the bi ke. The th ing was runni ng really good, th e Yoshimura pipe worked reall y good and th e Michelin tir es wor ked reall y good for what the co nditio ns were." Domay said hi s biggest problem will be keep ing th e pace going in th e up-coming ro unds. " I shou ld be running second in th e points at the mom ent, bu t it 's goi ng to be hard to stay th ere," he said.
