WEST MONROE , LA, APR. 25
The SMRA MX season got underway
a t West Monroe with Team Green
rid er Kevin Windham sweep ing both
motos of th e 60cc and 80cc Junior
cla sses.
In 125cc Intermediate class action
Yamaha -mounted Chad Montero
stormed his way to the front after a
dead last start o nly to crash and hand
th e lead and the win over to Trey
Clingfrost. Chris Babin was second
overa ll and Montero salvaged third
overa ll.
Montero didn 't make any mi stakes
in th e Senior Mini divi sion as he won
both motos over JoJo Falla and Will
McNabb. Montero was headed for his
fourth mot o win of the da y in th e
Open Mini class but his charge was
slow ed by a flat tire and Fall a took
th e win a nd overa ll honors over
Allen Ross and Mon tero.

offered riders several new sectio ns
including two separate stadiu m-type
rocker sectio ns. The first race after
the noonpractice was the combined
125cc/ Wo mens class.
The 125cc Experts were th e first
' line to leave and Honda- mounted
Ken Clifton took the holeshot with
Covina Yamaha's Brett Duncan an d
Buddy Morgan, now riding a Suzuki,
leading the pack. Duncan dogged
Clifton's every move until lap three
when Duncan came around in the
lead with Morgan's RM in second
p lace, and Clifton now in third.
On lap four Duncan opened up
hi s lead and was seen doubling five
large rockers. Morgan was holding
down a strong seco nd as Clifton had
[all en off th e pace and was being
chased b y James Hanson and
Cagiva-mouned John Rudder.
.At the finish line it was Duncan,
Morgan and Clifton in th e top three
slo ts.

Mindy Brundage in the second place
position after early first place Novice
lead er Lori Hedstrom went down
hard in the rocker section. FMFsponsored H edstrom had been running a strong second [or over half
