Drake blasts Ohio ValleyMX By Susan Willian LOUISVILLE, KY, APR. 26 Chuck Drake blasted both motos of the Senior Mini class on his Billy Willian-tu ned Kawasaki at O hio Valley Raceway. Drake lapped 90% of the field of 15 riders, as he rode with ease to the checkered . The O pen class found Tony Whe lan leadin g moto one foll o wed by J immy Bramblett and Ch ris Frenc h. Bramblett gained o n Whelan on the white flag 'lap , but Whela n crossed th e finish lin e firs t. Bra mblett flew around the course stretching- ou t his lead in moto two. O n the wh ite flag lap, Bramblett sta lled his machine, as Whe lan and French whizzed by. Bramblett fin ally got underway to pass French for a second, while Wh elan took th e win . and overal l. In the 250cc B class, Marv in Sipes grabbed the lead by la p two. Steve Kiesler a nd Kevin Poole contes ted each other as Poole tried hi s hand at passing Kiesler but was unsuccessful in his attempt. Poole fina lly wen t by to move into second. Pool e the n p ushed in on th e leader Sipes. Po ole kept edgi ng in on Sipes. On the white flag, Pool e went into the lead. Sipes gassed it to regain. the lead o n the last portion of th e course. J im m y Br amb lett p il o ted h i s machine into the front seat in moto two as he was hounded by Sipes and Randy Poynt er. Mitch Keller m oved into third arou nd Poynt er, as Poole worked his way around riders to go by Keller tak in g over thir d. Bramblett held to first at th e chec kered followed by Sipes, Poole, Keller and th en Poynter. Tony Harris, Lee Bob Willingham and Rod ney Carrier raced side -byside over th e tab le top in mo to one of the Money class , H arris zoomed by' .Ca rrier to take ov er seco nd th rou gh the stutter bumps, as Willingham in the lead allowed Harris the opportun ity to close in . Willin gh am a nd H ar ris contes ted each other for first. Si de -by-side th e, twosome raced , as Willingh am held Harris off o n his first attemp t to pass. Harris regrou ped to make a second su ccessful bid for Willingham, taking over the lead . H arris then pulled away fro m Willingh am for the win. Willingham was q uic k to take the lead in mot o two follo wed by H arri s and Carrier. Carrie r q uickl y moved by H arris o n ly momentar il y, as H arris swiftly repassed to go back into second . Charl es Southgat e grabbed the lead in the Open class final , bu t Roeder reeled hi m in on lap two. Andy R ichardson also came past as Sou thgate sli pped towar ds the back with no brak es. Richardson hounded Roed er bu t cou ld n't find a line past and had to settle for second. Den ne Williams held the thi rd- pl ace spot at th e. flag over Dallas Mayer and Danny Angel. J eff Mid dlebrooks passed Scott La mb o n lap two of th e 250cc mai n and had clear saili ng whe n Lamb's motor retired half a lap later. Robb ie Grief was a safe secon d, while Randy Mi ll er h ad h is hands fu ll with Ch arl es Fennell and Danny Estep. . Grief nailed the holeshot in the 125cc class a nd · Edd ie Reagor couldn 't make up th e ground on his smooth ride to th e win . Tommy H ayden filled in th e winner's circle.
