Richardson snaps Owensboro ST win By Karen Lewis OWENSBORO, KY, APR. 12 Andy Richardson put in a comefrom-behind ride to win the inaugural H.L. Weakley Memorial Short Track in Owensboro. Over 80 riders attended the WKCRA-sanctioned event on the three-eighth-mile highbank oval. Denne Williams and Tommy Register argued over the lead on the first lap of the Open class, with Williams coming out on top. On the third lap Richardson found a line up high that carried him into the lead. Richardson stayed out front and cruised in for the win. Williams held onto second while Jess Roeder came from back in the pack to bump Tommy Register to fourth on the last lap. The closest race of the day was the Senior and Amateur combined final George Roeder and James Hart ran wheel-te-wheel the entire distance. Hart's last lap bid for the lead came up inches short at the line. Tommy Hayden was unbeaten all day and ran off and hid in both the 60 and 80cc finals. Monte Starks used a last lap pass on Joel Barrow to win the 200cc final. The battle for third was just as close with Williams beating John King to the flag. Beau Braswell blew away the Automatic class final. The race for second was a close one with four different riders holding it at one time or another. At the checkers second belonged to Jason Goodwin with Nick Hayden, Joshua Knott and Jenny Hayden following.
