OR 97321 (503) 926·9320 NEVADA Alan Coats won the first 250cc Intermediate moto at Perris. all with a 2-3 score behind Healey. O'Donnel still was able to earn the third place share of the purse ahead of Musgrave and a hard-charging Bill Scott who rounded out the top five on his Honda. Sunwest Yamaha rider Alan Coats looked set to win the 250cc Intermediate class as he powered to a commanding first moto victory. Coats moved LO the front in round two before taking a tumble near the horseshoe turn. Detuned by the fall Coats struggled to regain the lead, but was only able to work back up to nin th at the finish. Honda rider Pat Purnell accepted the opportunity to grab the lead and went on to take the overall with a 3-1 score over runner-up Jamie Morabito also riding one of the potent Sunwest Yamaha machines. Mark Ritson rounded out the LOp three on his Yamaha. Happiest rider at the track had to be Vet Expert winner George Kohler. After a fierce first moLO battle with Honda rider Marino BastioneIl, Koher piloted his Honda to the second moLO win over Kawasaki rider Randy Minter to earn the top honors for the day. Minter took second overall with Yamaha rider Pete Vetrano placing third overall ahead of Bastionell. Yamaha rider Ron Shuler gave the Open Novices a riding lesson as he topped both rounds to earn the overall.
