Huffman demolished the 80cc
class, which lined up 17 contestants.
Huffman was the only Intermediate
in the class a!ld easily cakewalked his
way to impressive wins in each moto.
Moto one saw Huffman leading
Shawn Highland and lach Rund,
who was making his 80cc debut at
Clark's Branch. Highland rode
closest to Huffman, good for second
at the end of the moto, while Rund
place third.
The second moto was much the
same. Huffman used his fine-tuned
riding skills to log the moto win for
a I-I sweep. Highland took stranglehold 01 both Junior portions of
the event while Rund carded 2-2 rides
for second and Bret Brashers posled
a 3-4 tally for third.
Tony Graves has made his return
to Clark's Branch Raceway a successful one. Graves' lengthy absence
from the area didn't slow the local
speedster, who took two classes in
usual form. Today Graves pulverized.
the 125cc and 250cc Intermediate
classes.
In 250cc action, Graves dominated
both motos with Chris Alberts
taking seconds in both contes·ts.
Third overall fell to Yamahamounted Mike Hamilton via 4-3
rides. Graves also dominated both
125cc Intermediate events. Local
terror Monty Spalding ran second to
Graves in both motos while Jeff
Daily, who was coming back from
an injury-induced layoff, took a pair
of thirds for third overall ahead of
Curt Cunningham and Tra'cey
Bethell, both on Kawasakis.
Rick Bault was the lone Pro
representative in the Open ranks and
ran with a pack of Open Intermediate and Junior riders. Bault· ran
away with both matos, beating
Dalton Jeremiah in moto one and
Chris Nicholls in mota two. Nicholls
came out on top of the Intermediate
heap after topping mota two. Mota
two was a disaster for Intermediate
first mota winner Jeremiah, as the
Kawasaki jockey was docked a lap
for cutting the course while trying
to reel in Nicholls. Jeremiah's bad
luck spelled relief for Honda rider
Mike Burke, who took second overall
with 3-2 rides to beat National-class
ATV speedster Ron Fields, who was
third after 4-4 performances. Kevin
Seevers won both Junior motos over
John Wagoner.
The day's second largest class was
the 17 rider 250cc Junior division.Rob Spring has controlled the tempo
of the class all season long. Spring
today carded stunning 1-1 performances and should be bumped up
to the Intermediate ranks soon.
Second to Spring was Don
Schneider. Schneider used 2-3 rides
to take second place brass while Brett
Manley was third after posting a 42 score, including a superb ride in
moto two. Rounding out the top five
in the overalls were; Suzuki rider
Chad Egge (3-5) and Monte Smith,
fifth with 8-4 rides.
Another class dominator has been
Jessica Kirkman. Kirkman continues
her reign of terror in the Pee Wee
ranks. Jessica beat brother James and
Aaron Haartle in both motos for a
I-I overall win.
