You can't be dreaming about things, especially with the high speeds we do out here. It has to be 100%. There's no room for anything else. What do you see in the future? In the short term, I think I'll be putting District 37 on the back burner a bit this year to concentrate on the Nationa+ Hare and Hound Series. From Husky's point of view, there are more important things than the local races. When you're riding National events you get that much more publicity - it gets them more for their money, so that's what my emphasis will be this year. They also wanted me to back off district racing a bit because they thought I'd get burned out. I race almost every weekend and I've been doing itfor seven years. Burnout isn't a problem for me. I like it too much for that. I can't have an off weekend. Even if I'm not racing, I'm still out there riding somewhere. I want to ride the ISDE so bad. That's where I'd like to go as far as racing is concerned and I'm going to have a shot at it starting this year. With Larry Roeseler leaving, Husky didn't have anyone to ride a fourstroke so I'm going to be going to some of the qualifiers. I'm really excited about it. That's the big goal for now. I'm also going to Africa for a rally at the end of April. It's called the Rally de Atlas - a 14-day rally around the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. We've got an American team ~oing from Husky and it'll be the £Irst American team ever to com~te there. We have our first outsIde sponsor for the event too a French shampoo manufacturer. It's going to be one of those rallies where you camp out every night - race all day and then set up tents. Later on I think Paris-to-Dakar would be something to do. You'd have to be a pretty mature person to cope with that. I know nothing about navigation though. If you gave me a compass I would know north, but that's about it. And I'd like to try racing a car sometime. I think I could be good at that. I think a motorcycle rider could do a lot more than some of the car drivers. They always stick straight to the course, but we've learned to look around a bit and take other routes. That could make us more competitive. In the long term, I'd like to go to work for Husky full time. I think eventually there'll be a place in the motorcycle market for me somewhere. I just have to pay my dues racing. Like Malcolm Smith with his own accessories line, one day there'll be something there for me. Right now, I'm just doing my very best at racing. This is what I'm best • at. No doubt about that.
