After following Mike Harth The Suzuki GSXR National Series returned to the site where the inaugural GSXR series was held last year. It was at Talladega that Doug Polen . . sw: ted hIS hIghly successful club raang season.. All of the riders ~dded for the start.of the A ProductIon contest were and Ron Ewerth for three laps, Rentzell snuck 'around Harth .and ~werth a~ter the ~wo' nearly collided In the tricky.90 turn t~ree. Once Rentzell was In the lead, It was clear sai'ing to the checkered flag and the $1000 check from Suzuki. Ewerth looked to have second place in the bag, but his machine Jumped out of gear on the last turn _allowing Harth to get by. Behind Ewerth, first year Expert, Paul Bray held on for fourth after a race-long battle with Larry Shorts and Kurt Hall. Jamie James had a picture perfect start in the B ProductIon race on his Quick Sand & Gravel backed GSXR750. Thanks to his lightning quick start the rest of the field was forced to play catchup all race. Harth slowly made up the ground and on lap seven of the 10-lap race James was slowed by a lapped rider and Harth made his move to take thl; lead. James rode the wheels off to get in a position to regain the lead only to be blocked by another backmarker on the last turn. "There aren't many places to pass on this track and when you come up on traffic the guy in second usually has the advantage in passing since he has a choice of which line to take, once the leader is committed," James said. "A guy like Harth can really take advantage in a situation like that and that's what he did." Harth went home $1300 richer compliments of Suzuki and he . thanked sponsors Phil Flack Racing, Dunlop, Cycles of Longwood, Fox, Jesse Burgher, Cycle Tsubaki, Cycle Performance and NGK for their help. George Fox was tearin' em up in .the Novice ranks. Fox won three races aboard a Savannah Kawasaki/ Suzuki-sponsored GSXR750. Fox's most impressive victory came in B Production where he)ed early, then fell behind to 'Bubba Blackwell before passing Blackwell on the last tum to win by two feet at the line. The only other multiple winner was Scott Russell on the Cycle Mart Honda Hurricane. Russell used the superior top speed of the Hurricane to hold off Yamaha FZ600-mounted Kurt Han in the C Production and t Superbike races. • 'Results A PROD EX: 1. Kevin Rentzell (Suz); 2.
