Kitsch scored later as his DMC Kawasaki tallied the 85cc 14-15 win. Yamaha-supported Tony and Brock Bullard were the only family winning act. Tony whipped the 250cc B class and Brock took 85cc 10-13 honors. Tony said, "We spent the winter racing in Calfiornia. The good competition and different tracks improved both of us." Rusty Sayres finished second in 250cc B. The 500cc B class action featured three-way racing between Robin Frey, Bob Patterson and Rodney Ohr in both heats and main event. Frey topped the heat, but Patterson hung to a narrow lead in the final for the win. CA Mike Larocco and Bob Sorensen topped 700 amateur riders in a record breaking field in the final round of the Triple Crown of Motocross. Yamaha/Gear/Scott USA-sponsored Larocco thrived on Professor Bailey's supercross circuit . ' earmng 125cc A and 250cc A wins. Larqcco picked his favorite inside gate for the 125cc final, cleared the first turn in good shape but almost lost the whole thing in the long set of whoops midtrack. "A couple of guys fell and crowded me. I thought it was a.(( over," said Larocco. Larocco kept the bike up and led all the way for the victory. Jay Mann charged back to pick off Mark Mussellman and Cliff Walker for second place honors. Mann opened the 250cc A contest with a strong bid, but Larocco caught him in th.e gatorbacks to clinch his second win. Larocco said, "The quads ran before us and they flattened out the ruts. You couldn't tell where the soft spots were." Sorenson's 500cc victory was a comeback charge, as the New Jersey rider started 12th and slithered through the leaders, topping Edmund Swearingen and Earl May before the final lap. "I did all my passing in the whoops," he said. "The track was wide and I thrive on the rough stuff." An anticipated 125cc B matchup between qualifier stars Damon Bradshaw.
