In motoone Keith Fox joined the show and made it a three- way thriller. Fox said, "Mann got a good start but on the second lap ~rocco and I passed him on a downhill Jump. Mann roosted the field in the second moto and led Kevin Foley flag-to-flag for the overalJ win, Larocco picked the inside gate, was c,ut off in the start, but hustled back to third for second overall. Fox commented later "I had bad luck and a DNF in th~ second moto. I got caught in a pileup." In 500cc Pro-Am class action Jon McCabe reeled in George List, Robin Dohlman and T.]. Bryk for the win. "It is my second race since my injury in the Winter Am. Series," said McCabe, "and it feels great to be back." Earl May and Tommy Martin romped at the front of moto two with ' McCabe's Happ's Cycle/Hi-Point Honda in the hunt. McCabe was patient, picked off May, and took sight on Martin at the midway point. Martin was tenacious and denied McCabe the sweep with skillful riding. Competition was intense in the I25cc B class qualifiers. Yamaha pilot Kevin Walker led Marcus Pedrero in the first moto and Damon Bradshaw caught his arch rival John Kitsch in the second. Yamaha/MX-Fox/PJ-l/ Barr~sponsored Bradshaw ran down both Walker and Rob Hanson in the final for the sweep. Jon McCabe rode his big-bore Honda to the 500cc A class win. "I enjoy racing a 10[. more since I got off the 80cc equipment," said Bradshaw. "I fit a 125cc better and hope to ride a 250 soon," Georgia's Tony Bullard returned from the winter circuit in California to take a win in the 250cc Branks over Aaron 'Yonely. The Yamaha/JT/ Maxima-backed rider explained, ''I'm glad to be back in the Southeast. I made the'top fi ve out there, but racing wasn't as much fun as down here," In the 500cc B motos, Robert Patterson and Jimmy Swanson tallied moto wins. Columbia Honda-sponsored Patterson, who eventually won overall, said, ''In' moto one Glen Myatt swapped places with me. On lap three he slid wide and I got by him for good," Kawasaki riders swept the Mini classes with Ryan Reynolds winning the 65cc class, Ezra Lusk the85cc (1013) class and John Kitsch the 85cc (14-15) division. Florida's Bruce Buerk, South Carolina's Robbie Neeley and Illinois' Gary Pea,k earned wins in the Senior classes.
