Flores finished fourth overall despite his displacement handicap, and topped the small-bore division. "This really isn't for me," said the South Bay Yamaha/jT-sponsored rider. "This was my first desert race and I don't think I'll do it any more. The course was all right, but it was pretty rough and really long after the motocross races I'm used to. "Overall I guess it was a pretty good race, but it was real long and tough, and there was an awful lot of dust," said Nolin. "This is my first time ever in this race and I think I made it tougher mentally than it really was. I expected it to be really hard so I held 0(( and by the time I realized that I wasn't tired it was too late." "I got a workout, 'mat's for sure," the dethroned King told Cycle News. "I was pushing hard and the terrain down here is really difficult. It's just sand but it's pretty choppy with sharp ledges and you have to be really ballsy in the fast stuff. But I've always enjoyed the race and it's good just to finish down here." .
