admit are among the best in the world. Both the British and West German FlM-affiliated federations have already eliminated double and triple jumps and now require any jump to be followed by a flat landing surface (tabletop. or otherwise). A single jump can spectacularly I launch a rider but under the current British and West German rule he need not worry about failing to clear a subsequent jump . .. Editor. TIme for TIm I am writing this leuer to help a friend in his time of need. Tim Hanna, a 500cc class pro motocrosser, was involved in a practice crash on Sunday, February I, at the Glen Helen round of Lhe Golden State Nationals. Tim is in the intensive care unit of a San Bernardino, California, hospital and has no feeling from the chest down. It is hard for me to even conceive this, but it is here and I like Tim's family and friends have to deal with it. Tim was always helping the kids at . the races. He always made a habit to take his sponsor's stickers (AXO, Shoei, Graydon and HT Racing) to the races for the kids. I'd come home from workatnightandall the kids in the neighborhood would have Tim's old racing jerseys on. His number, 28L, is a number that is well recognized in our town and at CRC MX events. Tim always put on a good race for Lhe crowd; I know that because I announced CRC races several times a year. So, Lhat's the way Tim is - generous and caring. I hope that you will be Lhe same way. Please send your cards and letters to: Tim Hanna, 3218 E S-I, Palmdale, CA 93550. tboi4 SUPERBOWL OF MOTOCROSS SOUTHERN RADICAL RACING REVS \ .,k. Goodwin'. Supe, Show I love Lhis sport of ours, Lhis highest form of motorcycling Lhat so few of us are privileged to participate in, Lhis tip of Lhe pyramid of training and practice that we call supercross racing. When a kid aspires to altain success in Lhis sport, and totally dedicates himself to that effort, it's a wonderment that he simultaneously builds a maturity borne of that dedication which translates his effort to all facets of his life and makes him a whole man - physically strong, mentally alert, and able to tackle anything Lhat life demands. Kyle Lewis is such a boy. On February 14 his dedication to racing yielded one of Lhe greatest moments of his young life - he won Lhe San Diego 125cc Supercross. TragicaJly, he lost his father the same night to a heart altack. His maturity on Lhis one night, Lhe best and at Lhe same time Lhe worst night in his life, has provided him with the decision to continue racing. No doubt, Team Dad is Lhe best sponsor you can have_ But Kyle is tough, and as he continued racing without his greatest support, his friends will respond to his dedication so that it will be possible for him to continue. To that end I would like to start a fund for Kyle with $1000 to ensure that he can continue. If it is your sport too, wouldn't it be far better to be a participant in helping a kid with a great talent, Lhan to just bea spectator to his £lame flickering out? Please send all donations from your heart to Kyle Lewis, c/o Dick Spillman, Team Honda, 17050 Margay Ave., Carson, CA 90746.
