"I was riding my butt off out there. I was having fun, though. The Husky 4-Stroke works so good on these (gravel) roads. 11 slides so well, I felt like Bubba Shobert! It's just so tractable, it's hard to believe." This is how Parker winner Dan Smnh described the 1987 Husky 51 0 Cross Country "Thumper," which carried him and co-rider Larry Roeseler to a decisive win over the cream of Southem Califomia deSert riders in the recent SCORE Parker 400. Taking the lead at the 6 a.m. start, Smith disappeared qver the horizon, never relinquishing the lead. When the dust finally settled on the competition, Smith/Roeseler had finished almost four minutes ahead of the runner-up, averaging 53 mph over the 5 1/2 hour run. Although they are internationally recognized as consumrnate off-road racers, Smnh and Roeseler had an unfair advantage with their Husky 51 0 four stroke. The four valve head, water cooled SOHC engine delivered smooth power right off the. bottom through the top end. To say nreally hooked up for Dan and Larry is an understatement. At 247 pounds, Husqvarna's510 CX is the lightest, most powerful four stroke on the market today -42 pounds Hghter than Honda's XR600, which placed third. You can get a big whne Husky 510 "King of the Desert" like the one Dan and Larry used to smoke the Parker competition. Drop by your Husky dealer and discover why Husqvarna continues to set the standard in the off-road, big bore, four stroke wars. 9Husqvarna Distributed by Cagiva North America, Inc. 700 w. 190th Street, Gardena, CA 90248 ~ MEIZELER 00 ...... ~ AERO Sport U.S.A. has just released a new line of competitively priced riding' gear and the AERO Sport Boot leads the product line introduc· tion.
