Conley was able to take a faster line on an uphill jump and snag second place. With Robertson and Conley in first and second, Green and Blood were dicing it out for fourth and fifth. Green's Yamaha and Blood's Honda hit the levee jump in a dead heat. Both cleared the jump and landed side-by-side, diving into a 9O-degree left hand turn. Blood stayed on the gas justa fraction longer, ripping out a highside line to muscle hjmself into fourth. On lap five, Conley began closing on Robertson while Blood was setting his sights on third place O'Shaughnesy. By lap six, Conley appeared to be wired to the rear of Robertson's machine. As they hit the starting gate drop-off, Conley made a move and passed Robertson on an uphill right turn. Robertson used the next turn to regain the lead, while Conley dropped back slightly and held his position. Blood completed a pass on an up-hill jump and captured third. The drop of the white flag saw all three holding their positions. Conley sat back and bided his time until the lastlUrn before the finish line. Robertson and Conley hit the big, right hand berm almost together. Conley went high and Robertson went low, with Conley coming out slightly in front. As they hit the short double jump, Robertson got on it just a little harder and moved back into first. With less than 50 yards to go to the finish and only a small drop-off ahead, Robertson took the smoother right hand side of the track, leaving Conley the more difficult left side. Robertson entered the drop-off first, but somehow Conley managed to get through it faster to hi t the checkers and win by less than half a bike length. The first person to congratulate Conley on a spectacular win was Robertson . . The final placings for the day had Sean C~>nley first overall, Clayton Blood second with a 1-3 and Jimmy Robertson third with a 3-2. • Results MINI 60: 1. Jason Harrison (Yam); 2.
