In 25Occdivision one Junior action, Chad Pederson rode to a 2-1 tally in the 126cc Intermediate divi.ion two class and wound up with the overall victory. South Dakota's Dax Billings gathered a [lawless 1-1 score together to take the overall. Honda rider Stan Hase 'followed with a 2-2 tally, with Tommi Hamalainau riding to a !l-5 for third overall. Kenny Daniels raced his Yamaha YZ490 to a hard-earned 500cc Junior victory, with his 3-1 finishes beating out Honda rider Allen Nickel' 2-2. Vacaville's Rick Lane netted a third overall with a 1-4 score. Rain started to fall the night before and kept on falling throughout the day, drenching the track with water and making the course a mud bog situation for the racers. In thefirst l25ccIntermediatedivision one moto, Davis put his KXI25 into the lead in front of Dobb. Riding in third, Pederson found a hot line around Dobb on the first lap to take control of second. Barnell, Bill Pearon and Steve Wiseman battled for fifth. Coming around for the second lap, Dobb put a move on Pederson. Hall a lap later, Davis dropped back to fourth in the mud, giving Dobb the lead. Pulling away from the pack at the finish, Dobb went on to collect the win with Pederson second. Davis moved up to third, in front of Barnett, as Grant Michaelson rode to a fifth. As the pack rounded the first lap in the second moto, Pederson had the lead with Davis hot on his tail. Honda-mounted Dana Anderson cruised in third. After some battling back and forth in the latter laps of the moto, Pederson took the narrow win ahead of Davis to collect the overall. Barnett followed in third with Steve Wiseman and Anderson in close tow. Lee Wilson from Bakersfield, California, jumped into the 250cc Junior first moto early lead followed by Honda rider Hase. Battling it out for third was Derek Jorgensen and Shan Cooper. Cooper went around Jorgensen and Hase on the second lap and set out to catch Wilson. Billings, whogota bad start, was moving up through the pack quickly and was running fifth. On the lastIap, Wilson went down hard on a slippery tech nieal section of the course. Billings, who had moved up to second at this point, inherited the lead and went on for the win. Hase crossed the line in second with Hamalainau, Cooper and Chuck Mark rounding out the top five. Moto two witnessed Wilson again putting his KX250 into the lead but fell before the first lap was completed. Billings went around the fallen Wilson and held 0(( charges from Greg Nickel, Hamalainau and Hase to collect the moto and overall win. As the 500cc Juniors roared into the first turn, Lane put his Honda into the lead. Nickel was ruiming second when Ken Wilson roosted his CR500 past in the first couple of corners. Dan Helm and Bradford Dunsend were having a battle for third. Going into a tight corner, Wilson stalled, letting Nickel pass to take command of second place. Dunsend also went around the dead-engined Nickel for third. With all the action going on behind him, Lane started to pull away from the troops. At the finish, Lane had a good lead over ickel. Crossing the line in third was Daniels, who was picking 0(( riders after a bad start. The second moto start was controlled by Daniels who led to finish; good for the overall. Nickel was again the second place man, earning the overall runner-up spot. Local rider Joel Christensen held 0(( challenges from Dunsend and Lane to collect third place. 8 Results 60 0ยท8: 1.
