Johnston crowned SERA Champion SPECTRO OILS By Karen Kemp NEW ORLEANS, LA, JA .17 Husky rider Gary Johnston was for the third year in a row crowned overall champion at the Southern Enduro Riders Association awards banquet. Johnston received a standing ovation from the crowd of 250 as he again received a Husky fremme Husqvarna Motorcycle Company. The banquet was held at the Holiday Inn Holidome. A motorcycle show was held around the indoor pool and garden area. Husqvarna, Cagiva, Kawasaki, Honda, KTM, Yamaha and Can-Am were all reptesented and had bikes on display. National Enduro Champion Terry Cunningham was on hand at the Husky display and National Enduro ISDE rider Jeff Fredette was on hand at the Kawasaki display to talk to guests and answer questions. The AMAIDistrict 19-sanClioned SERA Enduro Series consisted of 13 excellent events in 1986. Members of the SERA organization decided this past year to vote on the "Best Enduro of the Year" to be announced at the awards banquet. The Louisiana Trail Riders Associa tion was honored to receive the award for their 1986 Great Piney Woods Enduro. The Central Mississippi Enduro Team placed second in the voting. Top 20 and class willners received' SERA helmets. Second and third place class finishers along with the top 40 riders received personalized plaques. TOP 10: 1. Gary Johnston (392); 2.
