Horban hot at Grants Pass ST By Clay Light GRANTS PAS ,OR, DEC. 19-20 AMA expert flat tracker Robert Horban stole the show during two consecu ti ve nigh ts of indoor short track racing at Josephine County Fairgrounds in Grants Pass. Horban won the Open A and Open Pro main events on Friday night and Saturday night's Open A main. Local Grants Pass rider Wayne Frampton opened up the evening by capturing top laurels in twO classes, winning the 80 and 125ccA mains. In the 80cc final it was Travis Berry and ]0 Don Ireland giving Frampton trouble, but to no avail and were doomed to the number two and three spots. Kristin Cowan gave Frampton fits in the l25cc main but again, Fram pton was not to be denied, Chad Berry was third. Bob Ingle came out on top of a sensational race in the 250cc A main, ( riding with a much mellower style than in the past. Ingle held off Mike Hamilton and Eric Sargent to take home top brass. Horban motored off the line in the Open A main and made a killing, hitting lapped traffic en route toa win over Jack Killerand Herb Courier. Friday night's thriller came in the form of the Open Pro main event with a healthy chunk of Rich Word's I money on the line. Horban once again blasted to the front of the pack, leaving a squabble for second place loot between motocrosser Hamilton and Ingle. Horban was long gone and took win number two after a lengthy layoH from racing with Hamilton taking second. Saturday night's program included another two class thrashing by Frampton, winnerof the80and I25cc A main events for the second night in a row. Frampton's closest foes were Brett Brashears in the 80cc ranks and Cowan in the l25cc finaL The 250cc class was so huge, a C and B main were in order to trim the field down to eight for the 250cc A r main event. In the 250cc B main, Kevin Goodson took the win and the transfer to theelite A main by beating Gary Braden and Rick Valentine. The founh main went to Hamilton over Ingle and Luke Jacobson. Horban got his only taste of victory in the evening's program by topping the Wyrcherley brothers in the Open A main event. Horban got a taste of defeat in Saturday's high light, which was the Open Pro main.
