Byrd lapped the 14-turn Firebird track at or near the track record all day, but couldn't quite break it. Byrd got the holeshot in the Challenge Race with Kye Gunn and Deiter Lane in hot pursuit. Byrd proceeded to pull away at about one second per lap. By the end of the 10 lap sprint Byrd was over 10 seconds ahead of Lane. Gunn took third with Craig Martin all alone in fourth. Nevadan Dale Kieffer took fifth place on his brand new Suzuki. Laird White, Steve Rupp and Michael Pettiford battled for the six, seven and eigh t spots. Rupp charged up from eighth to take over the sixth position during the closing laps while White edged Pettiford for seventh. Earlier in the day John SCOtt's vintage Triumph blew away the combined Vintage and Novice race. Bill Slawson took the Novice win with a distant second overall. The Production class race saw Kiefer dice with Rupp for the overall. Kieffer pulled out a five second advantage over Rupp on lap four and cruised home for the win. The Stock C class win went to third overall finisher Andy Deatherage on his Yamaha FJ-600. Carlo Rao pulled off a last lap pass on John Knox to take second in C stock. Byrd starred in the Superbike Band D race. Byrd flat ran away from Craig Martin and Rob Leatham and when Byrd pitted after the race his punctured rear tire was completely flat. Tim Bergstrom scored the Superbike D win with an impressive third overall. White led every lap of the Superbike A and C race for the class A title. Stu Morrison looked like a shoo-in for second overall, but slid out on the last lap in sight of the finish line. Kieffer took the Superbike C class win with a fourth overall finish. Scott Willock finished second in Superbike C with his 350 Yamaha after a dead last start. Lane's Formula class holeshotlasted for one turn before Byrd was off and running. Byrd led until lap four when Scott Willock's Yamaha went into a vicious tank slapper that sent him over the bars. Willock's bike a;so collected Tom Dahl sending him to the hospital. Dahl was later released, a little shaken up but unhurt. Byrd pulled away to victory at the restart and took his third victory of the day.
