simple trUth. UBE IS NOT DESIGNED FOR CARS, TRACTORS OR TRUCKS. AUTOMOBILE OIL IS NOT DESIGNED FOR MOTORCYCLES. Yamalube 2, 4 & R are designed for motorcycles, with a blend of additives designed specifically for motorcycle engines. Additives often not found, at all, in automobile oils. You should be using Yamalube ..... and that's the simple truth. YAMAHA We make the difference:' Six-time ice racing National Champion Garth "Gonzo" Brow celebrates after claiming the victory in the main event. Other motorcycle heat winners included Chuck Springsteen, Knapp, Hardin, and Dan Ingram. In one of two spectacular match races (run between heats as exhibitions) Brow bested Morris at the finish line as "Fast Eddie" pulled a wheeIie on the last short straight, a move which let Brow dive inside for the win. "Gonzo saves his wheelie for after the race," joked announcer Dave Mc-. Carthy as the crowd applauded Brow's victory celebration. Ingram defeated Chuck Springsteen in the other match race. "We have lots of ice outside in Flint," Rhoads admitted, although he and fellow Flint, Michigan native Brow didn't do any specific race practicing. "Itwas more of a technical session," joked Rhoads. "We set up a track about a mile long and got the bikes going at least 75 miles an hour. It was great'" Although he was battling the flu and felt tired throughout the night, Rhoads felt good about his early points lead and hastened to give credit to sponsors Herb and Bryon Molloseau and Arai Helmets. Brow remained optimistic about his chances for a seventh consecutive National Championship on ice. "A lot of thirlgs can happen on the ice, but I feel good about the way I'm riding," he said while signing auto'graphs for ahorde of youngsters who poured out of the stands to mob the winner's circle. Once again, two dedicated motorcycle builders - Byron Molloseau of Michigan and Dan Thompson of Ohio - are providing equipment for the pro series. Molloseau entered four motorcycles (Brow, Morris, Rhoads, and Launce Sulaty) and provided motors for two others (Springsteen and Hardin). Thompson, a wellknown Harley'-Davidson engine builder and developer, raised his contribution from three to four bikes this year (Hebb, Scott Drake, and rookies Scott Stump and Don Estep). All were riding 250cc Honda four-strokes with only two other brands represented (Dave Coe, Ducati; and Jad Mayer, Suzuki). MoUoseau also builds many of the studded tires required for traction on the indoor ice. The series remains one of the be t spectator attractions in racing as promoter Staton Lorenz moves all over the ice on skates to keep things moving on schedule. Only one month of racing is available as this year's series consists of just five events compared with recent years when as many as seven to nine races were held. Contingency sponsors for the series include Arai Helmets, Hi-Point Racing Products, Carlisle Tire Co., Kold Kutter Ice Studs, SuperTrapp, and Pro Trykes. In addition, American Honda will award (by drawing) a new 1987 FourTrax 250X toa Honda motorcycle rider finishing among the top four in points. • GOLDMAXTM Snow & Ice Studs * Best Traction * Serrated Washer * Sharpest Head _* #10 Shank * Goldzinc Plating Y2" 3,4" - 1" - $7.50 Per 250 $8.25 Per 250 $9.00 Per 250 • RACER DISCOUNTS . • SPONSORSHIPS • CONTINGENCIES Results MAIN: 1.
