I would like to thank a particular dealership that sponsored a uper Senior rider during this past season. Cherry Hill Honda ill southern New Jersey did this for me, and although my goal to compete at the Amateur National Championships wasn't possible this year due to a job change that kept me traveling on business, they still backed me. I finished high this season, and intend to do better next season in the Amateur ranks as well. I will credit Cherry Hill Honda with any success I gain, whether or not I secure their sponsorship again. This is a class dealership, their faith in me is appreciated and I intend to demonstrate the wisdom of it next season. Purchasing your eq uipment there would be a wise move since the entire staff is professional, experienced and well equipped. If you do, please tell them Brewer sent you. K. BREWER District 6 #27 Willingboro, NJ Baja 1000 To set the record straight, due to last-minute changes in my entry, SCORE International could not change our listing. Our team consisted of Ed Ashe, Randy Hall and myself, riding a 250cc Kawasaki in Class 38. We finished 4th in our class in our first attempt. I'd like to thank our sponsors Kawasaki, Pacific Racing, Michelin through IRCT, Scott Goggles, IMS, and especially Chris Haines for all his help. T.].. VALLELY Danbury, CT It's been great After 17 years of working with the greatest people around I am going on to new pastures. It has been a real thrill to work with and be a part of some of the greatest growth and change the motorcycle industry ever aw. I remem ber well the first Cycle News East office here in the little city of Amherst, Ohio, and spending enjoyable times chatting with Chu k Clayton about this new exciting sport of cycling. Helping promote some of the first motocross races in the country and puuingon the firstAMA professional motocross with Di k Klamfoth were rewarding experiences as were the many years I spent working for and promoting Penton Motorcycles and Hi-Point Racing Products. I'll cherish the many memories of traveling all over the country and world with my boss, friend and confidante, John Penton; riding enduro events and racing motocross and totally loving the sport; and helping to supply the world's finest racing products and seeing them develop over the years. I am extremely proud of the fine record and name our company has enjoyed all these years. The many dedicated individuals I have worked for and with, all our dealers, support riders and suppliers who have given me the opportunity to know them and be a part of a dynamic and exciting sport. Though I won't be working in the sport I will certainly still follow and love the sport and hope to retain the many friends I've made. I would personally like to thank the following people who have helped and worked with me throughout these fun years: John Penton, Larry Maiers, Kathy and Robert Towne, Ralph Haslage, Jack Penton, Bob Lenk, Jack Mangus, Mike Church, Dave Duarte, SCOIl Wallenberg, Dave and Rita Coombs, Jack Lehto, Eric Trunkenpolz, Kalman Cseh, Bill West and many others too numerous to mention. Special thanks to my lovely wife Barbara who nursed me through 15 years of enduro riding and our many vacations at the races. in Pomona, California, on JanUary 10. "Spiraling costs' in dirt track racing are a serious concern," said AMA Vice President of Professional Competition Bill Amick. "These rules will lead to improved reliability due to reduced stress on engines. Other cost-reducing measures will be examined in tbe future." Full details of the new dirt track rules will be provided to all AMAlicensed dirt track riders through a competition bulletin mailed on january 8. In other news related to AMA professional competition, a carburetor claiming rule has been implemented for 1987 in the Superbike road racing class. Under the claiming rule, competitors will be able to claim the complete carburetion system of a rival's machine for a purcbase price of$3000. The measure is intended to discourage introduction of prohibitive carburetion systems in Superbikeevents. Full details are being provided to all AMA-licensed professional road racers. _ MATT WEISMAN Elyria,OH Weisman was Penton Motorcycles and Hi-Point Racing Products advertising manager . .. Editor. Wind (Continued from pagt! 2) retains the right to impose such restrictions. In AMA'sJuniordivision, air intake plates for twin cylinder machines have been increased form 28.5 to 29mm in diameter. Specific rules fo the Junior class - with the exception of the allowable diameter - remain unchanged from 1986. This allows competitors to simply bore out manifold plates used in 1986 to take advantage of the larger air intake allowance. The regulations for the Junior division take effect following a race Egloff Rides for Sight By Paul Carruthers George Egloff, two-time winner of the Iron-Butt Rally, is hitting the highways for charity as he sets his "sights" on an 18,000 mile trip to raise funds for the RP (retinitis pigmemosa) Foundation Fighting Blindness. Egloff's Ride For Sight trek began in Dallas, Texas, on December 14 and will end in Atlanta, Georgia, on February 27. Retinitis pigmentosa is a group of hereditary eye diseases that affect the retina; the retina slowly deteriorates and loses the ability to transmit pictures to the brain. Egloff will go coast-to-coast three times this winter on behalf of the fight against RP. The New Jersey resident is riding a Harley-Davidsonsponsored FXRT Sport Glide and will ride from show to show on the Nissan Great American Motorcycle and ATV Show circuit. ''I'll be at every show as long as I don't get stuck in a snowstorm," Egloff said. Egloff said he will ride 700-800 miles on clear days in order to have a cushion for days when winter storms will keep mileage to a minimum. The trip will see Egloff at Great American Shows in Pomona, Cali-
